Six-stroke engine under development

Bruce Crower has built hot engines his whole life. Now he’s working on a cool one — one that harnesses normally-wasted heat energy by creating steam inside the combustion chamber, and using it to boost the engine’s power output and also to control its temperature, reports AutoWeek. “I’ve been trying to think how to capture radiator losses for over 30 years,â€? explains the veteran camshaft grinder and race engine builder. “One morning about 18 months ago I woke up, like from a dream, and I knew immediately that I had the answer.â€? I pray the Big 2 look at this. Hook it up to a hybrid assit and smome batteries and super capacitors… Transition away from a dependance on fuel…dang I don’t know.

Why doesn’t the petroleum industry diversify and invest in alternat fuels, hydrogen storage/better batteries, and all that stuff?

Ive heard BMW was working on a steam engine to capture the wasted energy of the internal combustion engine…. now I don’t think this is so crazy.

yeah BMW is doing it I heard it have a 15% performance boost. That’s about the same as a dry slump system which is….. 10%?
