Skoda Joyster Concept in Paris

09/28/2006, 3:34 PM

By admin

Following a teaser sketch earlier this month, Å koda has revealed its Joyster Concept at the Paris International Motor Show today. The three-door, front-wheel-drive compact vehicle is aimed at a youth audience.

“On top of its fresh-looking design, the vehicle offers a high degree of comfort and smart modern communication solutions,” the company said. “The Joyster concept demonstrates the big creative potential of the company’s young designers led by Jens Manske. The team indeed creates new, simple and sophisticated solutions in the spirit of the company’s advertising slogan — Simply Clever.” Gallery after the jump…

Well, they did a pretty good job of hiding the VW Golf underneath.
I think someone in FORD will be crying over the rear light assembly. It’s really Mercury-esque.

Skoda is not to VW what Mercury is to Ford. Skoda cars are generally built on the same platform as the veedubs but have their own sheetmetal, interiors, and etc. are sold generally in Eastern Europe. Mercury’s are fancier Fords with a different badge. There is a big difference.

And I think they did an awesome job integrating the grille and the headlights up front. Looks terrific.

Skodas sell well in western europe too they are top of the JD power with Honda and Lexus in the UK

skoda is economy
vw is mass market
seat is performance
audi is mass luxury at least that is the concept.
then you have lambo and bentley at the top end

Skodas tend to be more reliable than VWs for some reason… and people are happier with their buys… Can’t really argue with that… They blow Seat and VW out of the water in reliablity surveys.

That better reliablity might be partly because they use older (tried and tested) technology. eg Skoda Superb based on old Passat
I think aging lineups might be one reason Ford and GMs reliabity numbers improved recently
