Earlier this week we brought you word of a Viper-powered Chrysler 300, but it appears as though the allure of a V10-powered sedan is too good to be true as the car has been revealed to be a one-off creation by a Dodge Viper enthusiast.
Created by Derek Ekins in his two car garage, the Chrysler 300 SRT10 in question is actually a lowly 2006 Touring model, originally fit with a 3.5L V6. However, Ekins spent nearly a year working on the 300, which is now equipped with a 525 horsepower version of the Viper’s 8.3L V10, shifting through a T56 Tremec six-speed manual transmission.
To handled that extra power, Ekins also beefed up the car’s suspension – adding Eibach adjustable coilovers and a swaybar kit – installed a larger fuel tank to feed the thirstier engine and a upgraded the car’s radiator to keep things cool.
When asked why he created the car, Ekins responded simply: “I just wanted something different. I really liked the Viper, but I couldn’t fit my whole family in it.”
Dear Chrysler, the rest of us also want something different.
