Sure, the new 2.0 has been dynoed close to 200 at the wheels. But I bet, the 230 one will have more hp than the 200 hp one even when dynoed at the wheels.

Jon, the MK V GTI have been consistantly dyno'd at 200 wheel hp. Facot in a 15% driveline loss and you have 23o crank hp. VW pulled the same thing on the MK IV 1.8T. When it debuted in the VW, it was rated at 150 hp to distance it from Auid, even though it was dyno'd at 150 wheel hp. Then, all of the sudden, they started claiming 180 hp after a couple of years. It is just a way to pretend there is a change to the car and save on costs of actually changing it.

Dyno for the MK V:

Joe,

The GTI makes 200 bhp. The special 30th anniversary edition makes 230 bhp.

Joe, that's not true as VW would have a lot of lawsuits on their hands.

Golfgolf, actually, all GTIs will have 230hp by then, so really the only differences are cosmetic.

The actual hp wont go up since its already putting out about 230. They'll just change the advertised numbers. What a rip........
