Spied: 2007 Porsche 911 Targa

06/09/2006, 9:04 AM

By admin

Spy photographers caught the 2007 Porsche 911 Targa sans disguise in California for a photo shoot. The first version is expected to be called Targa S, but a less powerful version will follow later. An all-wheel-drive version based on the Carrera 4 may also be offered. Since a photoshoot has already been completed, we’d expect the official announcement soon. [Two Images Here].

since the last gen Targa sold sooooo well ( /sarc ) I am surprised they are going forward with another.

Porsche’s problem, and eventual downfall, is going to be volume. Talking about the V8 Vantage compared to the 911, Aston’s product VP said there is no comparison between a 3k/year vehice and a 30k/year vehicle. Add the Panarama, Cayene, Boxster, Cayman, and 911 and Porsche is no longer an exclusive, they are as mainstream as BMW and Mercedes. Their respective value will drop.

i think the reason they continue with targas is because they have such a long tradition with targas that they just wont let go. i love em though.

then bring back the true t-top style targa… to be successful it would need to distinguish itself more over a traditional 911
