It looks subtly swollen and squared jawed with high Q-car potential. The R4 will be the zippy zappy one. It’s a deft move on Audi’s part, doing mid-engine sports cars and handsome coupes. They won’t compete and it makes Audi look more ‘capable’ than BMW since they are doing mid-engine cars.

Wow.. that looks nothing like the evolutionary Audi styling I expected, and that’s not a good thing.. the usually straight crease from headlight to taillight has some pretty amateurish-looking swoops in it, recalling the Hyundai Tiburon and new Elantra.. the roofline and rear quarter windows are unusually squared off, considering the coupelike arc-shaped greenhouse of Audi’s sedans… and the rear looks really thick, like a CLK. I am not liking this.

I think it’s a matter of two seats or four. R4, two seater; A5, four seater.

Some manufacturers want a car in every segment, like BMW with the Z4 and a 3-series, price is similar, but the buyer’s needs are different.

Child seat or no child seat.

IMHO….Just because it works for Mercedes does not mean that it will work for Audi. I think Mercedes’ sales of other vehicles in other segments offset each other enough to show some gain for the company as a whole. I don’t think this is the case for Audi as they can’t match the overall numbers of Mercedes. I think it’s more of brand awareness for Audi….an investment in their image and future.

Right now, I’m with 1c3d0g…..too many models to keep track of. It’s all getting lost in the mix.

Mercedes seems to do fine with their lineup, so oh well.
i don’t know WHY audi feels that it needs match with models coming out from BMW or MB, but i’m liking their new cars so far.
anyhow, i like the roofline and the outline of its rear. but other than that, we’ll have to wait until we can SEE the car.

Is it just me or is Audi really blurring the lines between their models? There are so many of them now, it’s difficult to choose between them since they a lot of overlapping.

these are all different class of cars at really different budgets. and the only 2 door car they had was the tt and still its a compact roadster class fighter. the r4 will be mid engined, more sports oriented and against the cayman/boxter. the r8 is just out there with $100,000 plus i assume against the 911 turbo, the a5 is a bmw 3series coupe competitor. mercedes seems to still be pulling plenty of profit and they have more niches then anyone. anyway im applauding audi. no matter what budget youre on you have your option.

I have to agree with joseph. I’ve been saying this for a while now.

So if I want a sports coupe from Audi I can have a TT, R4, R8, or A5?

In theory I suppose they’re all different enough, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see if they’re actually all that different.

You can’t see much except for the overall shape, but I’m sure it will look/perfom good.

Man, are they filling EVERY market??? I’m wondering if this is overkill in terms of profit? We shall see!

I’m sure there will be an A5 Cabriolet…

…but beyond the camo-tape, the car looks rather (gasp) Chrysler Sebring coupe-ish

depending on price, this would be a very under-the-radar attractive alternative to the CLK.

i think it’s going to look great. I presume that the A4 Cabriolet will fall off the table when the cabriolet comes out for this.

I’m not a fan of the R8 but I think an uber version of this ride would be great.
