Still looks good, still drives great, still is the best in its class. Lets stop complaining here, the Z4, TT, 350Z, and S2000 don’t even touch it. That last sentence makes it seem like I don’t like those cars, which isn’t the case, I like each one for different reasons, and I’ve gotten to drive a TT a lot and a like it quite a bit, but from everything I know, the Boxster is THE best.

Also, it’s worth noting that the S2000 is still an incredible car and costs like $20,000 less than a Boxster, same with the 350Z, so at those prices you can’t do much better I suppose

Don, your a funny guy…didn’t know a $45,000 car could be considered a poor man’s anything. You must be loaded.
Is a $110,000 V8 Vantage considered a poor man’s Aston Martin since it’s considerably cheaper than a DB9 & Vanquish?
How about Continental GT? Bah, anytime I see one of those $170,000 cars roll by I throw change at it, so maybe next time he can get an Azure or something so he doesn’t have to look so poor.

It’s always seemed to me that Porsche has compromised the Boxster so as not to cannibalize sales of the 911. Boxsters don’t hold their value all that well next to 911s, either, from what I’ve seen.

I prefer to refer to the Boxster as a “Porsche with panties”.

Apparently because the Boxster is still selling nicely, Porsche has no plans of redesigning the basic Boxter bodyshell. This is good for bargain hunters because apart from the new front and interior, the Boxter basic design is still like the one that that single-handedly ensured Porsche’s survival in the early nineties up to this day.
Porsche Boxter driving dynamics is still one of the best these days but I still think that Porsche should have gone for a full redesign. They should fix the only flaw in the Boxter design- You just can’t see the engine of this thing which is a shame.

2004 was not a face lift, it was a NEW MODEL and it wasnt available until 2005…

Instead of spending money on LED’s, they should spend more money on better bodywork styling. But, this is Porsche we’re talking about: they would rather take the cheap route (LED’s aren’t very expensive), and continue to line their pockets with cash from stupid Americans who don’t know any better.

The Boxster is a decent sports car, but it’s not worth anywhere near its $50k+ price tag. You have to be a complete idiot or really have a thing for Porsche to pick a Boxster over a Corvette, for the same or less cash. The base Corvette makes even the top of the line Boxster S look like an embarrassment from a performance standpoint, and the Corvette looks better too, IMO.

Shouldn;t we be talking about the Solstice and Sky here? This is a real car enthusiasts site isn’t it? I don’t want to talk about German crap on a GM site thank you very much.

Definitely an improvement, but I also believe it’s time for Porsche to seriously update the styling of about every model. They’ve had te same basic shape and body style for as long as I can remember.

The Z4, TT, SLK ARE its competitors. Boxter S? M roadster, and SLK55 thank you very much. If Audi came out w/ a S or RS then youd toss it into the mix. Poor man’s Porsche? You’ve got to be kidding. Just because it doesn’t outperform the top end Aston Martin’s and Ferrari’s doesn’t mean that it is a poor man’s car. Does it make any sense to make the Boxster a super car when they already have a winner in the 911. Why have 2 cars from the same factory competing for the top spot. Porsche is smart, they have the roadster (Boxster), the middle entry (Cayman), and their top end (911). They run the show, and I’m not a Porsche sympathizer (not gonna change my name to PorscheNumbaOne4Ever) I’m just saying that they are smart and don’t overpower their smaller cars to try and hunt down the top end cars of the other exotic car manufacturers. The Boxster is still an awesome car, I’ve been in a few and let me tell you, they’re definately a winner from Porsche.

I think corvette is an immitation of porsche since they are always comparing their cars to a porsche, maybe they just can’t make their own car they just have to copy a real car company (porsche) and just cut a few corners and slap on a $2 price tag.

Yes its nice, porsche is always nice, cos it has the unique style. Boxster is a car for those who like to drive a convertible without burning gas 20l/km.

Just to educate all you idiots out there…a Porsche Boxster S will outhandle any widely distributed supercar out there…only 1 car beats the handeling…Ferrari Enzo. Slap the twin turbo mods you can get for the Boxster and guess what, now your beating almost anything on the road, handling and acceleration wise. And for all of those who don’t realize…the interior of the Boxster is exactly the same as a 911…the brakes are the same, the tires are the same, and the engine is just a tuned down version of the standard 911…70% of the car is the same. If you’ve owned or worked with Porsche in anyway, most will say the Boxster is all as much rewarding as a standard 911, and in many ways, a lot more playful and fun to drive.

The Z06’s handling and braking specs match or exceed the Porsche 911 Turbo’s specs in every category. the boxster s is a one FINE automobile…imo lacks the low end torque…but other than that. If you talk trash about it, it’s obvious you’ve never driven one. (my post is not anti-corvette btw). The handling is surreal-it just defies the laws of physics. Not only does it corner with razor sharp agility, it handles bumps and potholes really well (for those who’ve driven bmw’s know that when you land in a pothole, your car feels like it’s going to break in half). The car is very addictive to drive. The brakes, clutch, steering, shifter all provide the driver with the very best feedback. You know exactly where your wheels are, exactly what the clutch is doing, exactly how the road’s condition is. If you’re going to call it a poorman’s porsche, then you’re living in a poorman’s “house”. Hell those who call it a poorman’s porsche probably live in their mom’s basement and smoke weed till their brain cells shrivel up and die.

i don’t seem much change but like what i do see, the again i like all Porsche’s
