Jake1 is right. They didn’t fool me! Who needs this anyway?!?!?! If a muddy road gets in your way just buy a Dacia 1300, equip it with 5 mature people and… cruise to the “finish”. I tell U from experience actually. With that car that has around 60HP we were cruising in 20cm deep mud like hell, and it’s not a 4×4 badged car, BTW.

I just don’t see the reason of this as long as they have A6 Allroad, Q7, plus all their models make use of the Quattro system. If produced, probably this is going to be a collectors item from 2040 onwards. If it will sell for about 15,000 Euros I’ll consider 1 for myself, but as long as it will sell for no less than 40,000 Euros… I’ll just pass it!

Does anybody here actually read the article or just look at pictures and comment? The car is going to be a wagon. They’re using the sedan body on the mule so disguise it.

It does seem a little redundant to sell crossovers and Allroad wagons since crossovers are essentially station wagons on steroids. I guess if Audi can bring in a few more customers by simply raising the height of a wagon and slapping on some lower body extensions, then go for it. As long as they don’t apply this treatment to the sedan (which looks incredibly ridiculous), then I don’t see a problem with it.

I have a friend who bought an Audi (A4) with all wheel drive and he let me drive it – I wasn’t impressed, sort of like a fat, heavy Honda Accord…and he said gas mileage is the ****s.

Deanster, Jeep drives like a jeep. Your do have 6 months without snow per year. Audi allroad drives like a nice car should. I love 4 wheel drive cars – they do make a lot of sense. Actually, it will even handle better then FWD stablemate.

I dig the allroads, I was kinda pissed when audi stopped offering it. This is a result, no doubt, of the higher gas prices and people getting out of their suvs for wagons. Nice to see it back.

I’m not sure why these types of cars are so popular. In Montreal (snowy as hell, everyone with extra cash to burn has a country cottage in the snowy mountains) people love this **** – it’s Subarus and Allroads galore up in the snowy north.

You would think a nice brawny SUV (like a Jeep) would be cooler – more coccooned cabin, more space, better ground clearance…

CA: Have you ever driven a Honda Accord in more then 4″ of snow? AWD is a must and a little clearance helps in the snow but tires are the most important factor no matter what your driving.

I have to snicker a little with regard to all these “AllRoad” vehicles (not just Audi) that everyone seems to think they “need”. As a kid I traveled extensively with my family off to the hinterlands of Canada when the majority of the roads were dirt/gravel/mud/etc. A good set of meaty tires, RWD with heavy luggage in the rear of a 52 Chevy Sedan did the trick. No GPS either.

Yea…definitely doesn’t work on the sedan. When the real thing shows up (the wagon) I expect it to look much better. Audi (and Volvo) make pretty decent looking “off road wagons”

Even Subaru stopped selling the Outback Sedan… Audi canceled the Allroad here due to poor sales. Sedans sell better in the U.S.

I truly think it’s a Mule. Just because there is black fenders and has a raised suspension on a A4 body doesn’t mean it’s a A4. More and more Audi’s will be built off the new A4 platform (example: Q5, A4, A5).

People here and other forums take photos too literal!

These cars are the **** in the snow and I see a lot of them in mountain communities like denver. Subaru, Audi, and Volvo sell way higher percentages in high elevation towns. In the town im in it seems like subauru easily out sells toyota.

Why not an allroad sedan? Don’t the Q7 and upcoming Q5 pretty much do the same thing an allroad wagon would do? A4 and A6 allroad sedans would seem to make more sense in that they wouldn’t directly compete with Audi’s SUV lines. I agree though.. WAY too many Audi variations appearing these days.
