Spied again: 2008 Cadillac CTS

04/29/2006, 7:45 PM

By admin

A quick-thinking car enthusiast snapped a few pictures of a Cadillac prototype near General Motors’ Milford Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan. ‘General Z‘ of the Camaro Z28 forums wasn’t sure what he photographed, but it’s clear the vehicle is the same as the 2008 Cadillac CTS prototype spied earlier this week. The car is also suspected to be the same vehicle that was previewed on 60 Minutes in early April. Images after the jump…

The hind quarters in the second sho could pass for an Altima… The first shot looks like a G35 sedan.

They want you to see other cars in it, or at least not see the c pillar, that’s what all the checkers are for. So it’s working out.

Doesn’t look like a Cadillac at all except for the wheels. Everything else looks like an Altima, a Saab, or anything else. Looks good, though.

one of the biggest design flaws of the current car is the relationship of the top of the front wheel arch to the top of the fender…it’s too big. makes the wheels look like they came off a lawnmower. This car looks like it’s even worse…i hope it’s just padding under the camo.

I completely agree. I too was thinking that, like the current design, the tall nature of the overall lines and squared off detailing makes the car appear to be undertired… Of the current design, only the “V” series just begins to make the car look to have tires sizes that fit its overall profile.

While I like the general look of the current CTS (and will likely like the next one as well), I wish Cadillac could design a base version that looks adequately shod…

This is more than just a Cadillac/GM problem, BTW… I think the new BMW’s and many of the Infiniti models, in all but their most aggressively configured options, look undertired as well.
