Oh yeah, I’d think most Americans would never think about these things, because most car nuts never really keep their cars for mor than 5 years, yet alone 15 years before trading it in and driving around in the next cool thing.

Admittedly, it is weak, and it’s probably a throw back when convertible tops were not made as well as today, but when you keep a convertible top for more than 15 years, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I have a couple of Mercedes SL from the 80’s: 380, and a 560. Beautiful cars, but the rear plastic windows look like crap. And the stitching around them are frayed and soon they’ll have holes. I’m gonna have to get the entire roof replaced, but the weakness in convertible roofs in my experience has been the embedded windows.

Now, maybe the it doesn’t matter with an Aston Martin, and if I take better care of my cars it won’t ever come to that. But to take better car of these cars would mean to not drive them. And, I’m not about to do that.

Toy Yoda, that seems weak – the main reason you buy a BMW instead of the Aston is because the glass or plastic in the rear convert window??? I agree plastic is preferred but how can a buying decision truly come down to that 1 obscure feature?? The fact is that Aston ownership is simply more expensive and less reliable than BMW and if you want the more exclusive vehicle, in this case, it will cost you more to own and maintain…but dont let that window decide for you…

No doubt the car is beautiful, but if I had the money I wouldn’t buy it. The reason? Well, the rear view mirror is embedded into the convertible roof. I’ve owned convertibles before, and having a window embedded like that whether it is plastic or glass means it won’t last very long. I like to keep the cars that I have and keep them in mint condition.

This is why I prefer BMW’s solution to the problem with the 6er, and one of the many reasons why I choose it over the Aston Martin. If AM addresses this issue, I might consider getting an AM too, but a DBSR9.

Good looking car. I heard one of the coupes in Toronto last month. Very nice.

I think I would still rather have the slower, uglier Maserati Spyder.

B-E-A-UTIFUL! i LOVE the turnsignals on the insides of the lights…very nice. i guess there are ppl that get a pay check from Ford that know how to make a good looking car. They need ot hire the deisgn dpt away fom A/M before they sell it.
