While the recently-unveiled Aston Martin DBS will be unique to the forthcoming “Casino Royale” James Bond film, a nearly identical car will be sold to the general public under the ‘DBRS 9′ moniker, according to Hans G. Lehmann. What’s more, the basic design of the DBS will form the basis for the next-generation DB9, according to the super spy photographer. The “RS” variant will have a wider track, lower ground clearance, and bold scoops and air intakes up front. According to rumours, the V12 engine’s performance was boosted from 450 hp to more than 500 hp for the DBRS 9. Gallery after the jump…

I am a firm believer that cars with alphanumeric names should not exceed 4 characters, and DBRS9 is a great example why. It’s too long and sounds stupid. “Yeah man, I’ve got an Aston Martin dee-bee-are-ess-nine.”
That said, in terms of appearence this this is my new fav Aston. The rims aren’t at all too big. Perhaps the taillights could be better.

You know when you’re driving a XXXXYYY you’re driving the ultimate in performance

This thing is a one hundred percent pure Rachel Weisz-inspired wood fest.
Driving one must be like having Emilié de Ravin straddling you and tearing her clothes off while In Flames’ ‘My Sweet Shadow’ is shredding the stereo!
And as for the looks – saying the wheels are too big is like saying Angelina Jolie’s lips are too big, bull**** – they’re just right! That DBS arse is hotter than Samaire Armstrong in a wet thong.
And you know what? You’d have a good chance landing a lay from all four of these honeys if you klap a DBS…

Yes, very nice Aston. But with a styling and performance like this who needs the Aston Vanquish? Maybe Aston should let this car be the flagship instead. The old Vanquish looks dated and makes no sense at all.

The rims are fine… the car is schweeeeeeeeeeeet. I would also say schwing! Of course to truly discern how good (or bad) this car is, I’ll need a test drive very soon!
Definately not a daily driver… unless its to you back yard golf course (or tennis course, or … somewhere in your back yard – on the estate, maybe your own personal race track?) but it could get by in many downtowns, I imagine (though in Europe some of those streets are scary narrow – the point where your car wont actually make it unscathed).
Its this or maybe the C6 Vette is looking more practical every day!

Aston Martin is becoming a joke. Yet they could so easily make some of best cars in the world, and not just some of the most desired (the whole bond style thing is going a bit loopy). Making them good cars, in turn should add to the desirability as well.
Going crazy with ever more horsepower and ever more expensive cars. Or maybe they are just interested in milking as much money as possible from the super rich, who aren’t really that bothered about a “good” car, or even getting some worth for their money, just one that shows of their wealth and is exclusive I guess.
Make them a little lighter, a little less HP (400 is not exactly low HP by the way) and a little cheaper. Try to make them feel great to drive (not just in a straight line). They missed a trick with the V8 as it is not the car it could ‘ve been, by far (Yes I have driven one). Why would other people desire it too much if Aston themselves treat it as the poor relative of the family.
Initial press releases put the price of the V8 around 75k but you realistically pay close to 90k and it doesn’t handle or perform anywhere close to the 911 it was supposed to compete with. Not as involving to drive as even a 45k CaymanS or BoxsterS (my friend couldn’t get away from my BoxsterS , even in a straight line).
I would rather consider a an XKR coupe ! At least people wont say, couldn’t afford a real Aston eh ! As if the DB9/Vanquish etc are good places top spend 120K or 150K.
So the new cars are: the DBS, and possibly a more powerful and even more expensive replacement for the Vanquish.
They look great, and sound great, the best perhaps, but get in one turn the key and drive away. Very underwhelming/average experience. Especially since the build up is so ridiculous! This is not such a bad thing, since they are enjoyed more from the outside, by the bystanders, than the poor chap inside the cars whose paid all that money. Why have one at all
