Spied: Production Lotus Eleven

As reported this past summer, Lotus is planning to introduce a new vehicle bearing the much esteemed Eleven badge. Sources say it may appear this month at the Geneva Motor Show. A near production vehicle was spied in testing at a race track in the United Kingdom.

Based on the Lotus Circuit Car concept, the bare bones roadster is powered by a 1.8-litre Toyota engine that produces 190 horsepower, or with an optional supercharger up to 240 horsepower. The car weighs only 650 kilograms due to the bare bones construction. Many packages to improve aerodynamics, traction control, passenger seating and various other aspects of the vehicle will be available. No pricing information is known at this time.

The new Eleven will require an optional package in order to make the track car road legal.

There’s absolutely no reason for that car to exist.
