This car is available in Canada and the 1 series is available in Mexico. Is it legal to import these into the USA?

It is not quite as ugly as a Caliber but there are elements of PT Cruiser to the front end. This is the worst car in the MB line-up, The A- Class would be a better product for the US.

To say that Toyota or whatever Japanese carmaker is copied by Mercedes is stupidity
If I'm right "They" copied Mercedes A-Class and M-Class from the mid-90's in design
and if you don't recognize a Merc then you can be anything but no carfan

I recently stepped into a B-Class at the dealership. The interior is surprisingly good, seems like a true-luxury SUV. The dash has high quality materials and looks more upscale than the car in general.

In spite of the MINI I think the whole concept of premium compacts is still lost on Americans. It's the reason why Audi hesitated to bring the A3 there and only then in the more utilitarian sport back format.

I doubt the A- or B-classes would ever be successful there. The Smart has a chance only because it is less expensive and has a unique design. But it's not useful nor a rewarding drive...hampered mostly by the terribly slow responding semi-automatic trans.

If it really is coming over don't get too happy. We have it in the middle east & for the price you are better off buying the Audi A3.

I think it's likely that DaimlerChrysler has given the go-ahead for Mercedes-Benz to offer the B200 Turbo and B200 CDI to be sold in the USA as 2008 models.

I expect the B200 Turbo to be a direct competitor against the Audi A3, complete with your choice of six-speed manual or Autotronic CVT automatic transmissions. The B200 CDI will likely get the full "BlueTec" emissions control system, including the urea gas injection system; this will allow the B200 CDI to meet even the stringent 2007 CARB diesel emissions standards.

And this is newsworthy? There must be a hundred B-class MB's driving around the States with Canadian plates at this moment! That partial picture could very well be a Canadian car.

I live in north Jersey...saw a completely undisguised B220 (it was definitely 2XX, almost positive B220) a couple months ago on Rt 80 45 min east of NYC. It was baby blue metallic color. Looked ok, kinda egg shaped. I wasn't quick enough to get out the camera phone since we were about to exit the highway. I will say good or bad...it was different enough looking for my wife to ask me what kinda car it was since she spotted it first.

I checked it out on MB's UK webpage...definitely seemed kinda pricey for the amount of luxury (or lack thereof), but UK cars seem to be priced pretty high even compared to the rest of europe.

Not the first time I saw a B-Class. It was about a year or two ago near Pasadena, CA that I saw a completly undisguised silver B-Class, complete with California dealer plates and German stickers on the rear hatch.

Not bad, except my uncle likened it to a Toyota Matrix and was not quite that excited....

To even work in America, it would need to follow the luxury that MB is known for and have an interior nearly on par with the C Class. And absolutely no hub caps.

We have had the B class in Canada for little over a year now. For full pictures and specs, either drive to Canada or visit: http://www.theanswerisb.ca/

IMHO, it's a overpriced, not enough power piece of poo. 33K (Cdn$ of course - probably cheaper in the States) for a car with plastic hub caps... sound like a deal.
