Spied: Roush Chevrolet Silverado

01/31/2008, 2:37 AM

By admin

In May 2007 longtime Ford tuning house Roush Performance Products broke twelve years of tradition by announcing it would expand its armory of high performance components to include options for General Motors cars and trucks. Today, spies caught the first ever glimpse at the Roush Chevrolet Silverado.

This this ROUSHcharged Chevrolet Silverado features both performance and appearance upgrades. ROUSH charger labels on the sides of the hood’s power dome are almost certainly confirmation it has the long-awaited Roush blower mounted on the engine. Sources indicate power will come from a 6.0-liter Vortec MAX V8 that’s factory rated at 367 horsepower and 375 pound-feet but will hit 500 hp and 500 pound-feet with the Roush unit.

The truck also has at least one other significant hardware change – dual exhausts out the back.

More details are expected in the near future.

It makes so much sense that it kind of makes you wonder why a tuner would limit themselves to one company exclusively in the first place. Brilliant move, Jack Roush.

Yeah it wouldn’t be that hard for GM to make it’s own Silverado SS again 09CTS-V, However Chevy isn’t just throwing SS emblems on all Chevy’s again, like they did with the last gen Malibu, and while the last gen Silverado SS did have the LS2 dropped in it, GM has changed their philosophy on the SS trim and is saving it more for their truly performance vehicles (although you can rip on the Cobalt SS the new turbo is going to be quicker than alot of other cars out there and have the handling to do it on the track too), so for them to outsource this to Roush, who alone is very well known and respected among performance enthusiasts out there I don’t see anything really wrong with this. Plus for truck enthusiasts (I’m actually not one of them) that 6.0L V8 Vortech is going to be a dream to work with.

It seems the cat has changed his hat. I wonder how all his buddies at FoMoCo feel about this? I guess business is business. What’s next: the Roush Ram?

I like this!!! I wonder if they’ll do an Avalanche or Suburban as I prefer those two vehicles. I hope they’ll do a G8 too.

yeah srt-4ken, it makes total sence, they get to promote a bad ass truck, but it is built by a tuner, so it sounds like a great idea.

This is a stupid idea even if GM has nothing to do with it. Of course people will buy it because people are also stupid; but super fast trucks are just a small niche market and they really aren’t super fast to begin with. I’ve been in a RAM SRT-10 and It’s got balls but since it’s so heavy it doesn’t count for a lot. Drive a truck, drive a sports car, don’t drive a sports-truck.
