Spotted: 2007 Mercedes CL65 AMG test car

07/11/2006, 1:11 PM

By admin

A member of the zroadster discussion forums snapped several photos of what appears to be a prototype 2007 Mercedes CL65 AMG. Mercedes only recently unveiled the 2007 CL-Class, and we’ve since seen an artist’s rendering of the 2007 CL 65, plus official photos of the AMG package for the CL 600. The CL 65 looks nearly finished, with only a small amount of camouflage covering the front and rear bumpers. These are also no first non-studio (”real life”) photos we’ve seen of the car. As expected, the car looks even better “in person” than in the studio shots. Gallery after the jump…

Is this thing a column mounted shifter? I gues it doesn’t really matter since its an auto, but still definatly un-sporty.

At the rate BMW and Mercedes are going by losing the floor mounted shifter I can only surmise that bench seats are next.

i agree w/ mike that the front headlights are sction tc-esque, but wouldnt you also agree they resemble a vw phaeton’s as well? just not quite as long.

I hope Mike was being sarcastic because he’s a very sad bastard indeed if he thinks anyhting is as badly proportioned as a Durango/Aspen. Oh wait I just saw a Caliber

The front just looks so uninspiring. The SL convertible (with top up) looks way better.

by the durango reference I was referring to the sculpting on the front feenders….although I suppose it could also be compared to the latest Nissan Concept GT-R.

and yes, my entire post was DRIPPING with sarcasm, as a shot on VDub.

Anybody who buys a Mercedes should be embarrassed that they wasted their money when they could have bought a superior Cadillac instead.

Talk about stupidity Sheesh

#21: with Mercedes’ current lack of quality, I’ll have to agree with you. Their quality has really gone down the drain in this new century. :-(

the 06 headlights are way better, i dont like the cls looking curve running down the sides, a floor shifter would be nice. i would have liked an 06 looking cl with the newer engine and transmission
