Pontiac on Tuesday took a near-production version of its Solstice coupe onto public roads for some final testing. This is the first time we’ve ever seen a prototype of the car, which was unveiled in pre-production form earlier this year. Production is slated to begin in January.
With its hard top in place, the Solstice Coupe’s profile looks a bit more chopped than it does in soft-top form. Â The sweep of the roofline toward the rear haunches is particularly sexy, and gives the Solstice Coupe a tremendous stance. Â The duck tail spoiler provides a great finish to the Solstice’s wedge shape.
Production may be limited to as few as 10,000 units annually, though nothing has been confirmed. The coupe is powered by a standard 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder engine that generates 173 horsepower, while the GXP version is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec engine with 260 horsepower.
