AutoWeek has snagged some very clear spy photos of what appears to be the forthcoming 2006 Dodge Challenger concept. Dodge recently released a sketch of the retro-inspired muscle car, but these are the first actual photos of the two-door throwback, expected to debut at the Detroit motor show in January. The car pictured looks remarkably similar to the original Challenger — perhaps even more of a carbon copy than the new Ford Mustang is to its 1960s counterpart. According to the report, the new Challenger is based on a shortened version of the Chrysler 300/ Dodge Charger chassis. It will be interesting to see how Dodge fans respond. Especially those purists who couldn’t forgive Dodge for building a four-door Charger.
