South Korea's Ssangyong Motors has unveiled an updated version of its Chairman W flagship sedan that is earmarked for the European market.

On the outside the revamped Chairman W gains a new front end that closely resembles the current-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Compared to the outgoing model the big sedan gains bi-xenon headlights, a grille with vertical slats and a more aggressive front bumper.

In South Korea the Chairman W is offered with either a regular or a long wheelbase but only the former will be distributed throughout Europe.

Set up to comfortably seat four adults, the car's interior is luxuriously appointed and features real wood trim as well as leather upholstery. The infotainment system is controlled via a large touch screen mounted in the center of the dashboard.

Ssangyong has loaded the Chairman W with creature comforts such as power soft-close doors, a Harman Kardon audio system hooked up to 17 speakers and an electronic parking brake. To ease the mind of safety-conscious buyers ten airbags and ESP come standard.

Technical details were not released but the facelifted Chairman W will likely rely on the same Mercedes-sourced engines as the car that it is tasked with replacing. They range from 2.8- to 3.6-liter in displacement and are linked to Mercedes' seven-speed automatic transmission.

After debuting at the Moscow Motor Show later this month the Chairman W will go on sale across Europe before the end of the year. Pricing information will be released closer to the car's launch.
