Wind the clock back just a few years to 2007 and Shelby Supercars was on top of the world after setting the record for the world’s fastest production car with a top speed of 256.18 miles per hour in its Ultimate Aero.

Of course, records were made to be broken, and it wasn’t long before the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport recorded a new record of 267.81 miles per hour. Being the proud Americans that the SSC guys are known to be, they weren’t about to sit back and let someone walk away with the new record without a fight.

Enter the SSC Ultimate Aero II, a car that is considered to be more myth than reality by many, SSC and Top Gear have now shown off two very real images of this truly exotic supercar. This pure business supercar is expected to reach 275 mph thanks to a 6.8-liter V8 cranking out an insane 1,350 horsepower.

Expect the full reveal and detailed specifications before the “end of summer [2010].”
