To the chagrin of many Firebird enthusiasts, Street Legal Performance will soon resurrect its iconic Firehawk nameplate on a Pontiac model devoid of any Scream’n Chickens. SLP will use the Firehawk name on the Pontiac G8 GT, with the first details hitting the Web today.
Available exclusively on the Pontiac G8 GT, the Firehawk treatment promises to seriously improve the performance of the Australian-born four-door. Using the same supercharger technology found under the hood of the Corvette ZR1, the Supercharged Firehawk produces an impressive 500 horsepower. That power is enough to propel the hopped-up G8 from 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, with the ¼ mile flashing by in 12.6 seconds at 115 mph.
To visually set the Supercharged Firehawk apart from lesser G8s, the kit will include a flat-black hood and rear spoiler, Firehawk badging and unique 19-inch wheels.
Although the Firebird-based Firehawk was a relative bargain, the new-age ‘Hawk won’t be quite so easy on your wallet. The kit will set you back $18,995, and that doesn’t include an optional brake upgrade, which will tack on another $4,995. Add in at least $32,440 for a base model G8 GT and you’re running dangerously close to Cadillac CTS -V ($60,650) territory.
Supercharged Firehawk sales will kick off this April through select Pontiac dealers.
