Subaru has announced pricing for its all-new 2009 Forester crossover. Despite its all-new design, the 2009 Forester will actually list for $1,085 less than the outgoing model — bringing the Forester’s base price to $20,660 including shipping.
The base model — dubbed X — will include a naturally aspirated 2.5L Boxer engine which can be had with a manual or automatic transmission.
In addition to the X, the naturally aspirated version will also include two other trim levels : the X with Premium Package and the L.L. Bean Edition. The X with Premium Package includes a sunroof, 17 inch wheels, steering wheel mounted audio controls, roof racks and reclining rear-seats — all for a starting price of $23,160. The L.L. Bean Edition — which lists for $26,660 — upgrades the X with Premium Package’s interior and adds a premium stereo system and a 10-way power driver’s seat.
Up-level models will add a turbocharger — brining total output to 224 horsepower — and can be had in either XT or XT Limited trim levels. The range-topping XT Limited will sticker from $28,860.

…or you can opt for the ‘Musk’ package which adds hair inside the wheel wells, pine tar and possum turds on the floor mats, and special lederhosen inspired leather seats designed to chafe you raw in sensitive areas.

I didn’t know about Subaru relationship with lesbian community. If I had a Suby does it make me a lesbian? If I was a lesbian am I still a lesbian after I traded Suby for a pontiac?

Why should’t people spend 30k on a Subaru? You can spend near that and only end up with a Dodge Nitro

I’m happy with my Legacy GT. It’s fun to drive, has good aftermarket support and has been great in all the snow this winter.

20k starting price isn’t bad for a vehicle in the small SUV market, especially when it’s less than the outgoing model. It has standard side airbags, ABS, cruise, keyless entry, and I would guess power door locks and windows, although those aren’t listed in the features page. Not bad for 20k at all.

The cleanest plant is the VW Phaeton.
It is like a restaurant inside, but they assemble cars.

I would only buy this over a Dodge Caliber, Aveo, Yaris, or Fit. Other than that, I would take pretty much anything else over this

We had a pre-production LL Bean version on our floor for the past week. You can really notice how much bigger it is vs the 08 when they’re side by side. MUCH improved vehicle overall. We’ve sold three of the inbound units we have already. I think it’s going to do very well for Subaru. Price point is right, it’s got added safety features such as side curtain airbags and stability control standard, and much roomier and more “kid” friendly.
And yes, the plant in Lafayette is amazingly “clean” in a green sense, but also physically clean. Very popular topic for our core Subie buyers.

Current subaru owners should be very happy about what this does to the trade-in value of their 2-3-4 yr old forester.

I paid $26K (plus tax) on my Outback Limited. Six months later they have a $2500 rebate. MOFO.
They are going to include 5 or 6 speed auto tranny probably in ‘10, so I wouldn’t even bother with the ‘09.
I HATE the 4spd tranny in my OB…. gets stuck in gear… sometimes won’t downshift… you have to kick it out.

20K is pretty good price for this. Like the Boxer engine, like the AWD, like the durability, and even light off-roading. Make all the gay jokes you want, when you get stuck in your glorified Bimmer, you’d think otherwise.

With Subaru’s blowing headgaskets out there I doubt this new car hurts the trade-in value of any Subaru.

Nah, it’s not a good price. At 28K you can buy RAV-4. It’s a little bigger, handles great, has silky engines (both 4 cyl and V6) and has great resale. You can’t go into ditch with RAV, but would you with Forrester? CR-V can be had for less, but it does not have turbo or V6 and comparison is not equal. Although, CR-V with 4 cylinders considered a better choice then RAV by journalists. I also don’t like looks of new CR-V, but it is subjective; plenty of people like it.

I thought the B-9 Tribeca’s front end was hideous-period. It’s difficult to believe that it made it through all of the design committees. I liked the grill that made it to the WRX before it was completely redesigned, though, and thought it should have made it to later Subarus. It was a really, really toned-down version of the Tribeca’s, and I think it would have lead to a good brand image for Subaru as opposed to these boring ordinary grills on all of the new vehicles.
