jackjim: Yeah living in a red state could be worse than Indiana for sure. And going to school at IU is certainly a more open experience socially and politically than you could ever dream to find in the rest of the state. Not sure of the similarities between UT and IU students, but both would probably have some in common by attending enormous state-party schools. Global warming indeed. Haha.

Lambo: Something about a post you put up earlier had me thinking you were a UT-Austin student.

"the Fit, and perhaps the Versa, stick out. They aren't really that bad to drive, and the Fit especially can even be sort of…fun.

I actually like the fit. It’s quite similar to the JDM version I've long thought should be the U.S. Civic. I've lived in red states, and don't mind. It was just two damn cold. Course this morning, in the good-weather capital of the U.S., I scrapped my windshield. Global warming, you say?

jackjim: Not sure if I interpreted your question about me being in Texas correctly, now that I've reviewed it. If it was regarding what I said I was studying in school, then in that case, I would have been far more positive about my place at Indiana, as I love the school and the education it has been giving me. However, if it is in regards to my statement on subcompacts, and the socio political correlation that has with the state of Texas, my comment stands about Indiana. Politically and socially, as a state Indiana isn't my cup of tea, just as Texas wouldn't be.

jackjim: I'm certainly not in Texas. Not a whole lot better though...Indiana.

Regardless, you're definitely right about the new sub compacts being far, far better than those trash heaps of before. But when it comes to comfort and driving experience, they will undoubtedly be at the bottom of the barrel, which is nothing really too bad, as that is expected due to the super low price of entry. But that's why the Fit, and perhaps the Versa, stick out. They aren't really that bad to drive, and the Fit especially can even be sort of...fun. But don't get me wrong, I'm fully aware of how much better this generation of subcompacts is compared with those of yore.

Lambo: You in Texas?
The subcompacts of today are alot better than the tercel/geo metro those shoppers would've been stuck in a decade ago.

DeansterTJ: I'm majoring in Psychology, and minoring in Political Science. Taking quite a bit of Spanish as well. Really enjoying it so far, especially the Psych/Poly Sci combo.

jackjim: The class as a whole kinda sucks due to them being sup combact cheap cars, but the Fit does take the top.

Headgiver: I'm not ignoring my role regarding global warming. I'm in college and have a 2001 Prius, because I have to save a bit more money before I can buy the 3 or 5 Series I've been waiting to get at the end of the year. So don't talk to me about ignoring my responsibility regarding climate change. The real issue is your inability to accept science. But you'll have to figure that one out on your own time.

RicardoHead: Yeah the Fit does look like a little shit, but the fact remains it is the best choice in the sub-compact segment in America. Better than the Yaris, better than the Aveo, and the SX4, etc. You can even get it with paddle shifters, as well as a traditional manual, OR a traditional auto. Plus best in class fit and finish. No doubt it's styled pretty weak, especially the non sport trim variants, but it's a good car.

I would love to see all cars available to other nations available to us. Reality is they wont pass California emission test. I don't have a problem with test or EPA requirements for clean air and mileage, but in Europe they measure the same pollution and don't want it any more then we do. Europe and Japan taxes cars that pollute by simple formula: amount of emissions. It is not unfair: if you want bigger car with bigger engine and you will harm the rest by generating smog and carcinogens pay more. EPA and California demand generic compliance, which is insane. Those cute little cars wont make it here because of regulations.
Some of the cars will not be able to compete in our market: FIAT, Renault, Citroen etc 'cause of different demands on the car: prolonged drives at constant speed. But it is a market decision, not bureaucratic.

Ricardo, this is micro car: much smaller then Fit and yaris In Europe they are sold by Opel and Vauxhall as entry vehicle and they make Fit/Yaris look respectable. I drove current version of Opel with 3 and 4 cylinder gas and 4 cylinder diesel and it is a delightful little car (I did not know it was Suzuki!). With diesel it drives nice, with gas it handles better (diesel is heavier on top of front axle).
jjt, you are right about Fit: it is a nice car, albeit small.

HeadGiver: How many Land Cruisers do you see daily? How many Land Cruisers do you see compared to the number of Tahoe/Yukons that you see, and even to the number of Escalades that you see? I find it truly telling of your character and intelligence that you chose to pin point a model that, while getting very poor mileage and not doing jack shit to help the U.S. off of its gas dependency, sells in minuscule numbers. The Land Cruiser is not the vehicle that is causing the U.S. to keep chugging oil, they're barely even around anymore. You sir, no you don't deserve that title, you dumbass, are pathetic.

jackjim: You'll have to pardon the HeadGiver. He's a bit of a pissed off, ignorant twat, who talks out of his ass 99% of the time.

I think this does look like a pissed off little car, but it doesn't look bad. Wouldn't be a bad design theme to base a super small car like this off of.

'roger', it's still a concept ... I'm sure the lights won't make it into production as you see them here.

Zuke, "that looks like a pissed off fit"! That is exactly what I was thinking! Just looking at it would scare pedestrians off the street.

JJT - I dont mean they are qualitatively shitty (Fit & Yaris) but I wouldn' want to buy one. Nothing there to like other than mileage.

How about some decent mileage and something cool to boot? That's this concept. That's the Mazda2.

Suzuki has some great design talent. This car proves it.

I just wish that they could give us an SX4 that got better than 21 city/28 highway. It's a small car!

R-Head: The fit isn't a piece of shit. Nor is the yaris.
Neither is cool, but the Fit is honda's best car here, and the yaris (so far) doesn't appear to have any life-threatening defects

Why not for the USA? Honda has proven that even a boring putzy little piece of shit like the FIT will sell, and I think plenty of people here would like a smaller cheap commute to save gas but prefer to have something cool. The Fit isn't cool, the Yaris isn't cool, but this and the Mazda2 are cool and we dont get them, but then the world says we won't save gas. Sell us something that is cool and saves gas and maybe we'll save the freakin planet, but if the world continues to hoarde the efficient cars and sends us bLand Cruisers then we'll burn the gas and heat this damn planet up and everyone in the world will have no one to blame but themselves when they die as a result of this.
