Suzuki Kizashi Hybrid spied!

09/12/2008, 9:04 AM

By Drew Johnson

Following on the heels of leaked images revealing the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, our spy photographers have spotted a hybrid version of the upcoming sedan while out testing. Although the regular version of the Kizashi has been spotted before, this marks the first time the hybrid version has been seen out and about!

That’s right – Suzuki will be offering a hybrid version of their Kizashi sedan – and it’s expected to be in place for the 2010 or 2011 model year.

Our spies caught a Kizashi gasoline-electric hybrid prototype during durability testing on Friday, along with two competitors: a Nissan Altima Hybrid and Toyota’s Camry Hybrid. The two hybrids were no doubt along for some benchmark testing.

Although we confirmed this is in fact a hybrid, we don’t have any powertrain information at this time. Suzuki is still keeping mum on their future hybrid plans – at least for a while. However, both the Altima and the Camry pair their hybrid systems to a four-cylinder engine, so it is likely the Kizashi will have a similar setup.
