I went to the last day of the Tokyo Motor Show and had the chance to check out this car. Pretty impressive to say the least. Looks much better than the pics but the back end does need more edges to make it sportier. The seating position is comfortable and the pricing is good. The show unit has every option possible, heated seats, AWD, etc. Problem is, a little bit more and you can get the 3.5 Accord coupe. So it depends on what you’re looking for but a better alternative than Subarus.

Sux you can’t get AWD w/a 6-speed stick.

I think for close to $27k, I’d rather have a Subaru Legacy GT. 250hp, AWD, stick shift, bigger.

The names of the lines need to be changed – S-SE-GTS-SLS are already used and have been used for years by just about every other manufacturer.

The Interior looks good. but I don’t like the exterior, looks like the 5th Gen Golf/Rabbit and more of a compact like a Corolla than a midsizer.

Car has nice lines, but……

1. you sit low, when driving can’t put elbow on open window sill
2. AWD is great but in reality it robs a lot of rear legroom; all models are 4 passengers (with or without AWD), unless 5th is a child or a midget.
3. if it aims at Subaru market, it did not exceed anything that Suby sedan has, or is it?

However it has the best looking interior IMO

get in line, johnny, but bring a book! my pet theory on mazda is that they’re not a large company, more of a small player, and in tough economies the smaller companies get pinched harder compared to the big guys…perhaps the bigger guys can offer better incentives and withstand bigger losses for greater periods…but that’s really all bs…i’m sure greg can poke holes in my argument there…

i like this suzuki thing, but what kills it for me is the AWD/CVT mandatory combo…is it so wrong to want AWD and a manual for under 30k in something that doesn’t look like a subaru?

stick an audi or mercedes sticker on this, and it will sell for $35k .
nut jog nmofgm. that v6 would ruin the handling. the v6 is to big to heavy for this car. it would handle like a beached whale. or the new camero.

A4, leftwing still thinks we’re wrong when it comes to our theory about ugly snouts, bloated sedans and sales figures. If Suzuki sales suddenly pick up when this is introduced and Mazda sales continue to slide it’s going to add a little more fuel to our fire.

Not that I have this insatiable desire to prove leftwing wrong or anything… lord knows there are already enough people on this site hell bent on that mission.

I might have bought this if I had waited. That’s quite a car for not alot of coin. I kind of think the SLS with some sort of sport package would be the ride to buy out of the bunch, all the luxury of a $30,000 car for alot less. Or just the GTS if you don’t need the thrills of the SLS – but I like them thrills.
