Also regarding Suzuki, most of their models are designed to be flood proof due to the fact that their main market is in Southeast Asia. There is a small boxy model that can withstand a 3 feet high flood water.

The SX4 is a slick-looking little vehicle. Suzuki's small cars are cheap and functional, and I think this fits that mold.

The Grand VItara and the Swift are Suzuki's real stars. I'd actually take them over the CRV and the Fit. The Swift in particular is a bat out of hell piece of work that can be called a true pocket rocket. The Vitara has the inferior engine in US compared to the 2.0 elsewhere. It also has auto leveling HID on the overseas version. The XL-7 has been a disaster to begin with so they really should've just let it die with the last gen. The SX4's fate remains to be seen but if the handling is similar to the Swift then it should be popular with real drivers.

1c3dog: GM had a stake (IIRC ~15%) in Suzuki. They have recently sold off their stake; however, the XL7 is one of the results of that stake.

Suzuki is QUICKLY trying to distance themselves from GM though.

Actually, the Sedici is based on the Suzuki, not vice-versa. I'd rather have the Italian engineering... the quality's not as bad as it was and their engineering is top-notch. I rented a Fiat Panda 1.2 in Modena a few months back and was quite impressed. It's a cheap throw-away car, but it was especially good at what it did.

If this review http://www.whatcar.com/car-review/fiat-sedici-4x4/752/ of the Fiat is credible, then the forecast is cloudy for the SX4. ...and I'd not think they'd be able to compete with the clearance prices at GM if they're selling a mod'd Equinox.

So the XL7 is based on the same Theta platform (IIRC). Hmm...interesting. Perhaps GM is seeking a Suzuki alliance/merger? That's pure speculation, b.t.w.

The SX4 is pretty nice but they should have made it lower and sold it as a 5 door hatchback similar to their rally concept. Then I would buy it.

not bad price on the SX4 considering the features and the design. If you only need a car to get from A to B one might consider this one.

Personally I would take the Fit. Quality over quantity any day of the week.

Duhh, Tino. XL7 is a cousin of Chevy Equinox and Pontiac Torrent. Same platform. This Suzuki XL7 has a MUCH NICER dashboard and bigger, faster engine.

I still wouldnt get it or any of GM vehicles. I dont want GM to take my money.

Buy/Lease Ford or Ford-owned vehicles, thank you very much :-)
