You'd think that an automaker making the world's most inexpensive car would cut some marketing corners in order to keep its costs down. But I guess when you're about to launch the next "people's car," you need all the exposure that you can get.
customization
India's Tata Motors has launched a customization webs site for its $2,500 Nano microcar. The site allows potential customers to choose between different trim levels — a choice between standard and the Luxury trim line, with Luxury offering more colors — and a plethora of colors, pick out the perfect set of custom rims and even selected from some decal packages.

Although loading a Nano to the gills with options might defeat the purpose of its low price, it sure does make the Nano look like it's packing more than 30 horsepower.

  1. Take a rolling piece of crap, paint it green and add a stripe. Presenting the new Indian Mini Cooper.

  2. True, Vroom. The british/german mini cooper is also a rolling piece of crap with a stripe, although I haven't seen a green one yet.

  5. I just went to the site and "built my own." I think the best part is you can pick what type of side scoop you want. That's some bad shit!

  7. Come on guys, this is the only car millions of Indian families can afford, it's probably gonna be the first car ever for most buyers.
So since India's roads are gonna be clogged with this car in a few years time, what's wrong with letting people individualizing their car a bit? I'm sure the T-Model buyers would have been happy to be able to have a different colour than black as well.

  9. Jumpoffit that statement just shows how ignorant you are. Most Indians are not muslims and are not trying to blow up the west.

  10. i just stated if it was an option, but you looks like you read into my comment a tad to much there- i did not say ANYTHING about indians blowing anything up, re-read again, i could have said does it come with 22inch wheels and a sound system and i could have offended black america, oooooooooooooooooo me

  12. ROFL…jumpoffit…so true!

Question: Why is it that every cheap car has to look so disgustingly UGLY?!? I mean, it may be cheap, but at least make it LOOK like it's worth more than a couple of thousand bucks….damn, is that too much to ask?

  13. Jumpoffit S why did you say "explosive device " unless you were trying to give that impression?
What have 22inch wheels and a sound system got to do with black america?

  14. LaCarLover, if you drive through Newark, which distinctly non-white town, you will not help but notice large number of Escalades painted black with even blacker windows and 22" wheels. Inside those wheels there concoctions that spin when car stands still in front of bodega. Otherwise those things don't stand still even on the red light. Very loud stereo system must be present inside the vehicle, because the driver want everyone to know that he is ready to kill everybody via rap music. The decibel level of that music, however, will not let you die in piece. You are welcome to make your own scientific observation, if you are not afraid to drive though Newark.
Back to the original topic: are those Nanos will have a smell option or they all gonna smell like curry diarrhea?

  15. Even I, who support Tata's acquisition of Land Rover and Jag, do not like the Nano, for MY intents and purposes… For India it is fine… Does what it says on the tin… You get thousands of customised autorickshaws, so why not Nanos? :P

Jumpoffit, I think, was referring to fitting explosives to enable him to blow up the car he, and many others, find a "piece of shit" rather than commit wanton acts of terrorism… I'll just stick with that implication ;)

By the way 13.4% of Indians are Muslims, with 80.4% being the more peaceful Hindus :P

3rd largest religion in India is Christianity, with some 24 million Christians in India… (2.3% of the population)

Veered off the point, I know…

Autonut, they'll probably smell more like cheap plastic…?
