Tata Nano to get diesel, hybrid engines in addition to gasoline

July24

The powerplant for what is expected to be the world’s cheapest mass-produced new car, whether it costs $2,500 or slightly more, has recently been revealed. The little car will use a diesel engine developed by Germany’s FEV.

The 623cc, two-cylinder engine will feature a Bosch fuel-injection system, but all other components will be developed by Tata and FEV, according to the The Economic Times. FEV is an independent engine and powertrain systems research, design and development company.

The Nanos showed to date had a gasoline-burning version of the 623cc engine with fuel injection, mated to a four-speed manual transmission. A hybrid version is also likely, although it is not yet known whether the electric motor will be paired with a gasoline or diesel version of the powerplant.

FEV is also working with India’s Mahindra & Mahindra on developing an electric-diesel powertrain for the automaker’s Scorpio hybrid vehicle.

  4. Are enhanced ta tas called ‘hybrid’? I like natural ta tas. Thus, no hybrid for me.

  5. I’m sorry but do I even have to say anything macabre? You need a woman or a job, and if you have those already then maybe you just need a better hobby. Either way you can get the same effect your getting from your posts by shouting those useless sexual quips in an empty room or closet, because nobody is going to hear them either way. The only difference between the closet and the LLN site is that when your inside one of them your opinions actually matter…

  8. As if a car could literally even fit inside any human orifice, good one A4 maybe you can come to my kids birthday party and tell some more of those great jokes. As for macabre I don’t really hate you I just can’t help but be a dick about a solo triple-posting because it just screams “loser,” even though I’m sure you probably are not, it’s the male code of spite.

  16. F3INT))AP3X - The rest of us would appreciate the correct usage of the English vocabulary. Where did you find the word ‘macabre’? Is it the word of the day on your calendar, and you were just dying to use it somewhere? If we really tried, we could fit a car up your ass, you snobbish prick.

  17. Smart move. A Diesel engine is essential in developing countries (and in many island-nations) as they usually do not have access to clean fuel all the time. A Diesel engine can take on almost anything and keep on running.

  19. Sounds like F3INT))AP3X needs to come out of that closet, since he seems to have little interest in Tatas.

You have got quite a big mouth for someone of such short wit brassmonkey. Maybe if you had scanned the page a little, you would notice that the first 3 comments of this page are from a person named “macabre,” so it is not an insult it is merely someones username. My original comment was intended to come right after his 3 posts but someone else commented first; oh that was you brassmonkey! So not only can you not read, but you posted right in between his posts and mine and still did not realize that it was that man’s username. So I hate to be a “snobbish prick” as you so lightly put it but I do have to say, you are the quintessential beacon of irony in this case.

P.S. My English is perfect you ignoramus.

  21. 1c3d0g made the only valuable comment on this so far.

It is indeed a smart move.
