Nissan has released a single vague sketch of a new compact crossover it plans to launch in 2010. It will be built at the company’s Sunderland plant in the U.K. The facility currently assembles the Qashqai, which will continue to be made there.

To make room for the new model, Nissan will shift production of the Micra compact to a Renault-Nissan plant in India.

Specific details about the new crossover are unknown. Some reports seem to suggest the model is intended for global sales, including in North America. The Rogue is currently Nissan’s smallest crossover offered here.

Judging by the sketch Nissan released, it looks like the new model will have similar styling to the Rogue and Qashqai twins. It might have a coupe-like profile, similar to the Infiniti FX.
