TechArt gives Cayman high-performance makeover

07/03/2006, 11:21 AM

By admin

Tuner TechArt has put together a tuning kit for the Porsche Cayman S — pushing displacement to 3.8-liters, horsepower to 385 at 6,600 rpm, and torque to 407 Nm at 4,600 rpm. The top speed has also increased to 285 km/h to 178 mph. The sprint form 0 – 62 mph takes just 4.9 seconds. The car rides on 20 inch wheels with foot-wide tires at the back. The car has electronically adjustable suspension with coil-over dampers. Ride height is dropped by an inch. Pricing starts at 100,000 euros. Gallery after the jump…

Hmmm, just some juvenile add-ons with a warmed over engine. For 100K euroes, it ought to have north of 500hp and get to 62 in the vicinity of 4 secs. Perhaps they can sell a few of these to professional atheletes who don’t know any better.

It should make owners of 911’s think twice before racing a Cayman. The current 997 series Porsche 911 is barely faster than the Cayman considering Porsche deliberately made the Cayman slower to avoid performance overlap.
