TechArt GTstreet: 630 hp Porsche 911 Turbo

03/09/2007, 12:01 PM

By admin

Porsche tuner TechArt has revealed the GTstreet coupe based on the new 997 model Porsche 911 Turbo. A similar car was revealed in 2001, based on the earlier 996 model series.

The GTstreet features a 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine modified by the TechArt engine specialists to develop 630 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, up from standard 480 horsepower. Peak torque increases from 620 Nm to 820 Nm at 4,500 rpm.

The car is capable of hitting 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds and 124 mph after just 10.9 seconds.

The body kit for the TechArt GTstreet was created in the wind tunnel, and offers optimal aerodynamic downforce.

Exterior & interior color scheme sucks, but the car looks great. Gills on the rear corners of the bumper are a bit too exagerated also. Outdated wheels are in need of a redesign or update. Other than that, looks great. Again going back to the color scheme, roof in black doesn’t look right on this car.
Other than that, car looks awesome. Especially that front bumper.

I agree, other than the outlandish color scheme (and I do not care for the spoiler) this is a good looking kit. The nose will see an early death resulting from it lowness to the ground, and extension.

I guess the stock Turbo is just too slow and too boring.

Other then the huge spoiler and the gills of the rear bumper, I think it’s absolutely stunning.
Would love to see this car in pearl white with a black/carbon roof. Might do something to the rims as well.

Another great job by Techart!

Unpainted carbon fibre is the flavor of the day, thus I think the black roof etc… Function over form = form. :-)
Never get tired of nice versions of these.

The spoiler does make it a little bit ricey, and whatever shade of yellow thats called, doesn’t belong on the outside of the car, forget about the interior. But I guess if you want to be noticed doing 120 on the roads, this car will get you some attention.

interesting to see that the picture of the interior shows a automatic, not a manual…and i like the “teeth” in the front grills with the LED lights

This is one f’ing awesome job by TechArt. The body kit rocks, and the speed is biblical. This thing is faster than a Carrera GT!! And of course, no-one will know what it is, apart from the fact it’s a bit like a 911. 630 hp from a 3.6 litre is awesome, comsidering an American car like a Viper gets about 500 hp from an 8.6 litre. Those Germans know what they’re doing. Must be pretty scary to drive.

austin wtf man this is a tuned vehicle why crap on the stock viper? i like this way better than the viper, but do you have any idea what happens when you tune that big ass viper 8.3 1000hp is easily doable considering it has no boost. next year its 600 n/a hp.

Dre,

in case you didn’t know, A Dodge Viper weighs in about 3300 lbs with 515hp (the 2008 Viper has 600), and the Porsche 911 weighs in just under 3300 lbs with the factory turbo making 450hp. Advantage Viper.. in a straight line…

Comparatively, a C6 weighs just under 3100 lbs with up to 505hp as the Z06. The 911 is the one that is overweight.

But you are right horsepower means little if you can’t control it properly. That has always been the Vipers weakness. DCX has allowed the car to be little more than a very high powered toy. Without the racing program that made the first gen Viper such a bad-ass, the second gen Viper is not really a serious competitor anymore…

Comment by CTS DRIVER,

Yeah, no traction, worse gas mileage than a worked 3.6, still horrible resale value, worse handling, more weight to an already-heavy car, 97% plastic interior, etc.
That’s what happens.

Correction: Reading your comment Blakkarr made me go search myself. Your right, the Viper weighs around 3300-3400lbs. About the same as(maybe alittle less than) a 911 Turbo. Sorry, I always though the Viper weighed in just under 4000lbs, but now I know that I was wrong. I admit my mistake and apoligize. Thanks for pointing that out Blakkarr. ;)

Pretty fast no doubt, but IMO very overdone. Not to say it looks bad but there’s just too much going on.

I like your style Andre. But you do have a point, still I don’t think the original hp comparison was fair. I think that’s why the whole “1000hp” mess was brought up, not to say it would be a better car.
