denver, if you’re a teacher, and you commute 40+ miles a day for work, than the boulder valley school district pays you 5 cents a mile to commute to and from work. Now on top of that is this 85% break, meaning that a 25k nissan leaf will actually be payed for in 5 years, and will also net you 27,000 dollars by that time. That’s right, the car is payed for and you also have saved 27,000 dollars. that is a great deal.

DenverGuy- A Tesla store opens in Boulder on Friday.

LL makes it sound confusing, its 85% off the DIFFERENCE between a zero emissions vehicle and the cost of a comparable, regularly emitting vehicle. Which, for the Tesla, works out to be 38.6% off the list price.

Two things:

1) Can colorado actually afford this after paying all that money to save Balloon Boy?

and

2) Can one actually carry forward the rebate on their Colorado state taxes? What I mean there is that, say CO has a state income tax rate of 4%. A person would have to have a taxable income in excess of $1M to qualify for the full rebate in the year purchased. Most buyers wont have that, so I am wondering if they can carry the amount owed to deduct off the next year’s state income tax for, say, 3 or 4 years.
