Elon Musk drops CEO title: "I'm now the nothing of Tesla"

He will keep the title of president to comply with securities regulations.

Elon Musk claims to have dropped his titles at Tesla, further trolling the Securities and Exchange Commission following a settlement that requires him to relinquish his chairman position.

"Deleted my Tesla titles last week to see what would happen," he announced on Twitter. "I'm now the Nothing of Tesla. Seems fine so far."

The executive later suggested he might keep his title of Product Architect and president. The latter position is one of three legally required officers of a corporation, alongside the treasurer and secretary.

"Guess I have to keep 1st one or it will confuse the authorities," he quipped.

The SEC has barred Musk from serving as chairman for three years. After refusing the first settlement offer, he was threatened with a broad ban from the board of directors or C-Suite of any publicly traded company.

Shrugging off titles is presumably intended to demonstrate that Musk is still in control of the company, regardless of what titles he is allowed to have according to the SEC.
