Tesla Autopilot to get 'Mad Max' mode

\"We considered going beyond Mad Max to \'LA Freeway\' level, but that’s too loco,\" says Elon Musk.

Tesla is apparently working on a 'Mad Max' mode for its Autopilot system.

CEO Elon Musk posted a picture on Twitter of a new option in the Blind Spot Threshold settings, providing a choice between Standard, Aggressive, or Mad Max.

Some owners have complained that Autopilot is not aggressive enough to mesh with heavy traffic. The criticism does not appear to be unique to Tesla, however.

"Reality is that it will be pretty easy to bully a self-driving car, as it will always yield," Musk says. "Will prob have a manual override that requires continuous press for hardcore lane changes."

The company expects to begin rolling out more advanced autonomous driving features with its next big Autopilot software release later this year.
