The Best Cars from 100hp to 1000hp

The latest issue of Car Magazine has a look at the best cars from 100 to 1000 horsepower. The winner in the 100hp category was the Ford SportKa, a car not available here in North America. At 200hp, VW Golf GTI took the crown, which seems reasonable enough, except for the fact that it was picked over the Lotus Elise! At 300hp, the Porsche Cayman was an obvious (and wise) choice. The Audi S8 took top honors in the 400 horse category, which seems fair considering its 444hp Lamborghini engine. It was picked over the incredible Aston Martin Vantage, but the S8’s great value seemed to be the deciding factor here. The BMW M5 — a favorite among the automotive press — was king of the 500 horsepower category. It was picked over the Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo SE, and Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG, leading us to believe the value was a consideration here as well. Lastly, the 1000hp Bugatti Veyron was literally in a category of its own. Car was so excited by the Veyron that they decided to skip the 600-900hp range, which could include the Pagani Zonda F, Mercedes SLR McLaren, Porsche Carrera GT, and Ferrari Enzo.

I wonder if the M3 was mentioned at all.

which M3, i think the current model won’t be getting many awards anymore since it’s going away soon, and obviously the E90/92 isn’t out yet, soon though…
