While the richest of the rich might drive anything from Lincoln Town Cars (Warren Buffett) to Maybachs, the most common cars in the United States' wealthiest ZIP codes are a rag-tag group ranging from the kind of European luxury cars one might expect to a number of mainstream vehicles.

Truecar.com analyzed the country's ten wealthiest ZIP codes as determined by the U.S. Census and then it looked at what vehicles are most commonly registered in those areas.

Lower Manhattan's 10274 ZIP, which has a staggering $5,711,000 average income, tops the wealth list, but urban New York isn't the kind of place for acres of showy cars the way that, say, Beverly Hills is. As a result, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class tops the list, followed by the BMW X5, Honda Accord, BMW 328i and Honda CR-V.

Second place is scenic Fisher Island, Florida, where the incomes are a lower $1,531,000 on average, but the cars are noticeably less humble: In order, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, BMW X5 and Porsche Panamera.

Taking third place on the list is the Windy City's 60604, which includes a particularly wealthy stretch of Chicago's Michigan Avenue. Midwestern sensibility seems to prevail, since the top-selling car in this $782,000 average income ZIP code is the Volkswagen Jetta, followed by the Honda CR-V, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota Camry and Honda Civic.

The rest of the list is available on Truecar's blog, but a few standouts include the not-surprising second-place Toyota Prius in Atherton (think suburban San Francisco), California, the first-place Jeep Wrangler in Greenwich, Connecticut, and the second-place Toyota Sienna and fourth-place Honda Odyssey in Medina (land of Bill Gates), Washington.
