While the original Top Gear based in the U.K. is still the undisputed champion of automotive enthusiast shows in the world, the History channel’s take on the show seems to be gaining some traction of its own (finally).
Season one of Top Gear USA was met with groans and discontent by many, prompting some to question whether or not the show could survive – a question apparently answered with a “Yes” from the History channel as it has ordered additional episodes to extend the show’s second season.
One of the reasons the show is believed to have been doing better is the continued character and relationship development of the show’s hosts, which was clearly lacking at the start of season one. With the new-found increase in viewership, Top Gear USA will see an additional eight episodes added to season two, taking the season clear into 2012.
Expect to see the original three hosts continue to establish their roles on the show, with Tanner Foust further establishing himself as the driver of the bunch, while Adam Ferrara and Rutledge Wood attempt to bring humor and contrasting styles to the trio.
