Toyota's popular 4Runner SUV has gained a few new upgrades for its third full model year: Available power retractable running boards and the automaker's Entune connectivity system.

Toyota says that the powered running boards will be optional on both SR5 and Limited trim levels. The off road-oriented Trail model will not offer the feature.

Limiteds also receive Entune, an app-based infotainment system that utilizes a display-type touch screen, as standard equipment. Entune will be optional on SR5 and Sport models. Limiteds are also available for 2012 with Toyota's Safety Connect telematics system. Like General Motors' OnStar system, Safety Connect features an in-vehicle SOS button for emergency services including automatic collision notification and stolen vehicle location assistance.

In addition, all models gain standard SiriusXM Satellite Radio that includes three months of service.
