Toyota will likely become the first automaker to put electronic stability control (ESC) on every one of its vehicles as standard equipment. Honda and General Motors have both said they are targeting the same goal, with GM giving 2010 as the date it will have ESC on its entire lineup. Toyota, however, is saying it is “close” to meeting that target. “We’re looking at a lot of positive comments on the technology” from both consumers and safety advocates, a Toyota spokesman said, who noted a “high adoption rate” for ESC on Toyota products on which it is an option.
