2008 Toyota Camry Solara Coupe

The Toyota Camry Solara Coupe answers those who wanted a vehicle more personal and sporting in nature than its four-door sibling, the Camry sedan.

Recently refreshed, the Camry Solara is available in three trim levels: SE, Sport and SLE. Well-equipped at all levels, their features include Anti-lock braking system (ABS), driver and front passenger advance airbags, air conditioning with air filtration, tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio and display controls, tire pressure monitors, AM/FM/MP3 audio system, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

SE Sport Coupe Solaras include front and rear under-bumper spoilers and side rocker panels. At the back is a rear spoiler and exhaust tip. Tire and wheel sizes increase to 17 inches. The SE Sport's interior is not left out, receiving a leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob and parking brake. The SLE Coupe tops the range with automatic climate control, wood grain interior trim, power driver seat, power tilt/slide moonroof, and JBL premium audio system with satellite and MP3 capabilities.

All three levels of Camry Solara are equipped with Toyota's ubiquitous 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVTi). Rated at 155 hp @ 6,000 rpm, and 158 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm, the engine helps to achieve EPA fuel mileage ratings of 21 city/ 31 hwy with the 5-speed manual transmission, and 22 city/31 hwy with the four-speed automatic.

Safety equipment abounds with driver and front passenger advanced airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags. Three point seatbelts with emergency locking retractors and anti-lock brakes are also included. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is available as an added cost option.

The range-topping SLE V6 Coupe rounds out the Camry Solara's offerings with a 3.3-liter, V-6 engine with VVTi. Rated at 210 hp @5,600 rpm and 220 lb-ft of torque @ 3,600, it is dressed up inside as well, with the addition of leather-trimmed heated seats and 17-inch tires and alloy wheels. Using new EPA measurement protocols, the SLE V6 Coupe achieves ratings of 18 mpg city/ and 27 mpg highway with the five-speed automatic transmission, which is the only transmission offered with the V6 engine.
