This price increase only makes sense. Producing a vehicle involves a huge amount of energy - Pressing, forging, casting, machining, liftin heavy loads, transportation, etc... There isn't a lot of margin in most economy car prices, so they're very sensitive to production costs.
Furthermore, with increased demand for smaller vehicles the market will absorb the price. Unfortunately a lot of people are in for a very rude awakening when they try trading in their SUVs. If the dealerships take them, it may be for slightly more than the cost of scraping them for their raw materials.

Tell me this though. What has gone done in price? Milk is 4$ a gallon, gas is 4$ a gallon. Everything is raising in price and we continue to pay it. So why wouldnt the #1 brand in the world raise there prices? do you honestly believe america is going to turn there back on proven reliability and performance because the price went up? Absolutely not, we pay more for everything else. Its actually a very smart from a financial point of view because there obviously going to make more money. Toyota is at there peak right now they'd be dumb not to. I sell Fords but i can respect there Hustle.

Toyotas are overpriced. I was at the dealer recently negotiating on a new Camry SE. I researched the dealer cost, spoke to my friend who was a car salesman; I did my homework. I had the salesman show me the inventory list; the car I wanted had been on the lot 48 days. I made the offer thinking they would want it gone, and they came back with "We can take $750 off sticker." I told them to go fuck themselves, and bought a Mazda6 that had $2750 in rebates and I got an additional $2250 off. Toyota blows.

Hemi is such a jealous insecure loser lol Even with Toyota raising prices, its still going to have huge demands for its products because people don't mind paying more for quality. Its much cheaper to own a Toyota in the long run because you don't have to dish out as much cash in repairs as well as not needing to take time off work to go to the garage to get your car fixed. Also lets not forget good resale value for Toyota's. Buying a domestic is actually much more expensive in the long run. But Hemi don't mind that, he a proud flag waving dude, driving his big truck listening to meloncamp, with one eye on the road, and the other on the temp gauge.

We are sliding into recession with inflation overtones. If they raise or drop prices on Tundras, those probably will stay frozen on dealers' lots. I doubt you can get Yaris or Prius. Since those are cheap 5-7% increase will not mean much.

Not a good move Toyota.
I already think Toyotas are high when compared to Honda. Yes Toyota's are proven and worth it but its a competitive market nowadays bc of companies like Honda and even Hyundai. Toyota should keep prices the same across the board and maybe even reduce slow sellers like the non Hybrid trucks. I havent seen a 4 Runner on the streets in a while and I have only seen a few of the new Sequioas around
