Toyota denies Daimler tie-up

07/06/2009, 10:45 AM

By Drew Johnson

Denying a report from earlier this month, Toyota says it is not considering a tie-up with Germany’s Daimler. The refuted report – published July 1st – claimed Toyota was mulling building its own version of Mercedes’ A- and B-Class vehicles and that the two automakers were considering co-development of their flagship models.

Germany’s auto motor und sport published a report earlier this month that claimed Toyota was readying its own versions of Mercedes’ A- and B-Class vehicle to gain a better foothold in the European market, but Toyota says no such plans are under consideration. The Japanese automaker also denied that it was working with Mercedes to co-develop the automakers’ flagship vehicles, the Lexus LS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

“We are denying this completely,” Toyota spokesman Yuta Kaga told Reuters. “There is no truth to anything written in the article.”

The Toyota-badged A- and B-Class vehicles were tipped to debut sometime around the midpoint of next decade.

Daimler wasn’t as strong worded as Toyota in denying the rumor, simply calling the report “speculation”.

There must be a Daimler tie up in there somewhere. Look at Toyotas low quality and pisspoor reliability over the past 10 years.

In true Daimler fashion, Toyotas follow those German piles of sh1t straight to the junkyard in 50 thousand miles.

Buy American. Buy General Motors. It is your patriotic duty as Americans

Ahahaha, I never get tired of your nonsensical comments. Your humor never bores me ;)

Though… most german cars last a very long time. I’ve got 203k on my old benz and I’m slated to go at least 250k more :)

What revolution? Don’t tell me you think going in the crapper is a revolution, cause if it is, then you’re ahead of the curve.

“There will be no more Toyota by 2011. Victims of the American Revolution” –

Well yeah thats obvious. Look at Toyotas current situation -crappy cars, redundant model lines, CH11, federal bailouts, official company warnings about buying their own stock. Only a matter of time now….
