I don't believe hybrid is a success in Europe. There much more of them sold in states and Japan, where diesels are simply not available. I am all for hybrids and Europe actually needs them more then we are in States (their congested cities are apocalypse now), but the cost of hybrid technology is killing them. Toyota is feeling the pinch obviously by it, since they are whining that li ion batteries are dangerous since they weren't able to bring them to market before GM.
