Toyota and General Motors have called off their landmark fuel cell partnership, according to Japan's Asahi newspaper. The report cites a "lack of progress." Some have interpreted this to mean a lack of technological progress. However, Bloomberg says meetings fell apart after the automakers couldn't agree on intellectual property issues. GM has already spent about $1 billion on research on fuel cells, with plans for production models by 2010. Earlier today, we reported that Honda could have a production fuel cell vehicle in just four years.
