Well the Korean are about the same as the domestics as far as quality and resale
Hyundai/Kia has what it takes to be the next Toyota. GM will have to seriously take Hyundai into consideration

Looks like GM has found people who they haven’t let down yet, so congratulations on that.
Toyota being a big hit in China is news, as the Chinese would prefer to buy American, or Chinese.
Toyota/Lexus is also a big hit in Russia.
GM is getting better.
They just needed someone better to show them how to get it done.

No, I would rather have a real Japanese luxury car vs. an Overpriced German tank with I-drive.
I could care less what you would buy, drive or think. The G37 is a great car but there are many more options when it comes to Japanese luxury.
Don’t worry about what I drive bc I don’t care what you drive just know that its not anything American and wont be unless the American car co’s prove themselves and then make more attractive vehicles than the Japanese or Koreans
The discussion is about American (GM mainly) vs. Toyota and Honda (Toyonda says Commo and JJT) so stick to the script

Lets not get off the subject of GM and the Americans being inferior to the Japanese. You cant counter that argument so you and JJT constantly try and throw in BMW. Lets talk about Bimmer

BMW is a great car but overpriced. Unlike the Americans vs the Japanese argument the Japanese are just as reliable have a great build quality, resale and just as luxurious as the BMW.

BMW has more prestige over the Japanese bc which warrants more of a price! THATS IT !

BMW’s are bought by people partly bc they are BMW’s. I like the 3 series but I know I can get a less troublesome equally performing Japanese car for less. The Japanese car that is just as reliable and have a great resale

Bro, I have driven plenty of Accords (especially 90s ones in college that my friends owned) and I OWNED a BMW and believe me, there is absolutely no way you can compare the two in any way. This is like Hyundai comparing themselves to BMWs – it is ridiculous. Only maybe the truck space is comparable or the number of wheels or the number of doors.

Of course, all that Chinese propaganda against the Japs from their government doesn’t help either. In America, we don’t care about Pearl Harbor (as we shouldn’t, it was decades ago and it really shouldn’t affect our car buying decisions).

WEKS – I do admit that was a little bit of a conspiracy theory and I don’t have anything to back it up, but it makes sense that Toy would do that knowing them over the years. It’s like that track record 1115 always talks about, and Toy’s recent track record tells me that they are not the most honest company. I mean, they spent $100 million on a campaign to make the Prius car the image-booster that it is for greenies and especially celebrities. Then lets look at the Tundra ad campaign. I just feel that there is a good chance this is another one of Toy’s publicity stunts where they can tell investors that they “exceeded expectations” to make themselves look even better. China is a market where EVERYONE is growing so its not that impressive, like I said, GM is on track to sell at least 750,000-800k vehicles there this year.

jdasch1 – you are mostly right about life in China for the average person, but you will be surprised at the 08 Olympics. China is putting a lot of money into making themselves seem great. Trust me, what you will see at the Olympics will be somewhat impressive, but will be far from what it really is (I mean, the government is having no-car days to reduce pollution)

Who cares about China…slave labor and no emissions control. Cars that fold up in a crash and fall apart easily. 10 years of average income to buy an average car in China. Only a few can buy them and the roads can’t handle them all. Can’t wait until the media goes to China next year for the 2008 summer games…what a show they will cover up! I don’t know where you are CA36GTP, but try driving in Vancouver. I have seen so many examples of utter cluelessness it would make your head spin. And to make matters even worse, our only insurance choice ( other than optional ) is controlled by our provincial gov’t. So when they rip the front end off new their E-Class guess who’s rates get jacked because of it. And before all the do gooders pipe in calling us racist whatevers, come over and drive in Richmond- a suburb of Vancouver- one day. Other than Asian, everyone else put together is the minority. At the very least you’ll be forced to admit their may be a need for more stringent testing before they hand over a driver’s license.

And that only goes for the ones who actually take the test- many of them obtained under less honorable pretenses, as in bought and paid for.
