Toyota iQ awarded 2008 Japan Car of the Year

11/13/2008, 4:08 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Toyota’s diminutive iQ has been awarded the 2008 Japan Car by a landside vote by 65 members of the Japanese motoring press. The iQ, which will go on sale in Europe in early 2009, is not currently slated for North American sale – though Toyota executives have been notoriously tight lipped on the rumored possibilities of the small car making the voyage across the Pacific.

A group of 65 jurors selected the iQ by more than 300 points over the next-closest finisher, the Citroen C5. The Nissan GT-R, Audi A4 and Jaguar XF rounded out the top five of the 41 new vehicles nominated for the award.

The iQ city car was chosen as the top vehicle in the contest by 39 of the 65 jurors. Each juror was given 25 points to distribute amongst the vehicles – 10 of which had to go to one car and 15 of which had to be allocated to four other vehicles as the juror saw fit.

Smart’s EPA has been a disappointment.
I think Toyota knows they have a hit if they can offer 35-40 MPG.

“who would rather have Toyota IQ instead of GT-R ?..” BlackX, I’m sure budget plays a big role in that question. I’d rather have a GT-R, but I know I can’t have one with my current financial situation. But I CAN get an iQ if they come here.

you are such a retard, yarddog82abn. Learn how to use a period. Your grammar is reflective of your intelligence. There is no such thing as “intelligences.”

Actually, Cracker, there IS a such word as “intelligences”. It means multiple yet separate bodies of intelligence.

Yard Dog does need to work on his spelling, grammar, and punctuation. However, I have the feeling Yard Dog’s first language is Spanish, not English. Am I correct?

YOU ARE CORRECT……..
My home as a kid was more like Gorge Lopez CD, so English was not spoken that mush in my home, also my “dad” felt I needed to see were the family came form so off I was down to Central America, so out there I was schooled for 3 years so my Spanish can essay be considered my first languish, so as you can see my English is all F-up, good thing for spell-check…

Spell check doesn’t even help you out all that much. But that’s okay, I understand the situation. 90% of the people I work with speak Spanish as a first language, and English as a second. Even my wife is in the same boat. Spanish is my second language, but my Spanish is probably on par with your English.
