PW, how is my comparison moot, when Toyota has never passed GM in sales for 50 years(possibly 51)? Lights out for you!

And screwing cheap Chinese whores...

I'm not loyal to any brand. I know that everything comes from everywhere, and somewhere along the lines, almost everything I buy involves at least one American and at least one foreigner. Being free of brand loyalty leaves me to find the good and bad of every car that I drive, and I drive a lot of cars. I say congratulations to Toyota for doing a good job in marketing and research.

However, like MurderedOut said, just because they won ONCE, doesn't mean they are the king of cars. Mike Tyson is a great boxer, and won a lot of championships, but he is no Muhammad Ali. In the same vein, Thunder Chicken states that #1 in sales doesn't mean "the best", either. I liked Thunder Chicken's analogies, but I'll add that McDonald's may outsell Lone Star, but I'd much rather eat at Lone Star any day.

I think the current market situation and gas prices had a lot to do with it, but Toyota did a good job. GM has a reputation (as incorrect as it is) that they have to destroy. But they can do it. 2010 will be a good year for cars. I can't wait.

Japan is having the same issue now. They are imporing everything from China. Stores even have signs saying"made in Japan" iin the hope that some kind of nationalism will sell the over priced (relative to chinese products) products.

Everyone is getting screwd by the Chinese cheap goods.

PW, Toyota celebrated its 50th anniversary in USA in 2007. That means that for 51 of those 76 years Toyota was a competitor to GM. And GM "won" (as if claiming top sales is worth anything). Only 50 years of consecutive top sales reports to go, and Toyota might have something to brag about!

...And if Americans were as xenophobic as the Japanese, I wonder how successful Toyota would have been on this continent? After all, Toyta can lump JDM sales into their total, while GM is virtually shut out of that market...

Microsoft is the world's number one operating system provider. Intel is the world's most prolific GPU manufacturer (yes, ahead of Nvidia and AMD/ATI combined). Still believe being #1 in sales makes you the best?

Nothing short of amazing. Perhaps instead of waiting until each successive new model comes out, GM could just rename everything mid cycle to even further confuse its few remaining loyal customers.

I drink beer, I eat stake, I listen to Rock music, I watch sports, I race my cars at the strip and the track, me and my kids are all in to old school American iron, Chevel's, Charger's, Mustang's, the nostalgia of it all is just so cool, it's not that I don't thank Toyota makes good cars, it's just they don't have that, that thing were you start up a old BIG BLOCK and your hart starts betting to the rumble of the engine, it just so kick-as it makes you wanna play some Metalica out loud and and do nothing but burn-outs all day long,

I remember we lived in East L.A. and my dad was in to low riders, and they were all Chevy's, and my uncle live out in the valley and they were all in to muscle cars, I had the best of two worlds, I know some of you can relate....

Toyota good luck in being No.1, but just know you can never replace what some of us will always hold dear to our harts, when was the last time you see some one paying over $500,000.00 for a old Toyota, I don't thank so....
