GM has proven their quality because they have NOT had any major recalls for any of their new products. ****They have had MAJOR recalls from engine fires to safety equipment failures These are real issues unlike rust or engine sludge

So buying an 06-07 civic over a cobalt means buying "the more reliable car?" Even though the Civic's wheels tend to fall off, the Civic is still the better car because Honda built good cars 10 years ago?
***** The Colbalt and the HHR were recalled and I showed you then the history or GM recalls and you said they were in the past meaning the past 20 years now you are playing dumb I love it !

t when you bought one, your money went to Japan - when you bought the other your money went to America. I used that argument for only those two cars so stop trying to say that its my whole argument for everything
****Who cares as long as I got the best product for my money Why would it matter where my money went ? Sounds like something a patriot would say

First, I personally have never made excuses for GM - I have admitted multiple times that GM made crap IN You on the other hand insist that GM still sucks based on 20 year old incidents and you constantly say that "Honda is awesome and it doesnt do anything wrong just look on KBB" lol. GM and Ford have 20 years of high recalls? Yes they do, and the years are 1982 - 2002 bitch. UH NO its actually 1882(as you said ) -2008

And jonnycat basically just summed up everything ive been trying to do in the last few weeks - show people the other side of the story so that they are smarter customers and buy the best car, rather than mindlessly buying what everyone else is buying.

Honda Accord * 36,214 Honda Civic: Up 18.3%
Honda sales are up 6.9% WTF are you talking about ???

Chevrolet sales are down 22% from March 2007! You still are lying LOL GM's truck and SUV sales were down 22 percent in March while its car sales fell 14 percent.
Im trying to get a real number on the sales but GM is not making it easy I put 2008 chevrolet malibu sales in a search engine and the only info shwon was that they are up 16 from the last Malibu and selling for more than the last Malibu lol
THey wont give any solid sales figures on their precious Malibu EIther way its not taking sales from the imports which is what it should be doing
Chevy Malibu Buyers Trading Up, But Not Hurting Accord or Camry If it was a better car people would be trading the superior Japanese cars in for the domestic POS and ITS JUST NOT HAPPENING and wont

GM sales tanked 13% and last year he malibu and CTS werent out lol LIAR haha
GM Sales Tank A Whopping 13% in March
GM dealers in the United States delivered 282,732 vehicles in March, a decrease of 13 percent when compared with the same month a year ago. For the first three months of 2008, GM total sales of 805,720 vehicles were down 11 percent compared with a year ago.
Nissan was up 3.6%

Its not a better car until it proves its a better car.
The 2007 Honda Accord is selling better than the 2007 Malibu as for the new Malibu Its just a better looking version of the last one
Take a look at the sales of the Malibu its outselling the previous one which sucked so thats not a big accomplishment
Also You guys are kinda quiet abou tthe recalls I posted
Cant think of any bullshit huh

1115 the Fusion is just underpowered but for a 6 spd transmission its does get away with it. Its fast. I don't think it would have a hard time dispatching the Malibu

yeah, whatever, GM had no input on the Corolla whatsoever (and even if it did, that means they helped produce one of the fastest selling vehicles... either that or Toyota made a fault part, and either way it's positive for GM).

Check the 2007 Honda Accords. They are selling with just as many rebates, specifically for the loaded models. And 2007 Camry's according to KBB are selling with even more incentives than Malibu!

And I'm not saying sales went to domestics, you can prove that if you want. But obviously, domestics are quickly gaining sales, while literally almost all of the imports compact/mid-size and full size sedans are loosing sales, the only one NOT to do so is the Honda Civic and newly released Suzuki SX4.

You got your laughs, you <i>sly little funny one. I'm done arguing with an unproven, uneducated and unreliable high school drop out.</i>

"Accord sales are down 7% where did the sales go NOT TO GM"
Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Chevrolet Malibu sales are all up 25%, 18% and 122%, respectively. Obviously sales are not dropping for any of these vehicles, but Camry sales have dropped 2% and Accord sales have dropped 7%. Why is that? So did the sales go to domestics are you saying that ? If so back it up the sales dont go to domestics

Honda "jacked" up the price bc the car is a proven winner
Honda's are still selling below MSRP and according to KBB which you've identified as a reliable source, the Chevrolet Malibu is selling closer to MSRP than the Honda Accord. Why is that? * the malibu that just came out check a 2007 Malibu

What about the Gm recalls Lets talk about it
Yeah, let's talk about it…
GM is impending the recall of hundreds of thousands of Pontiacs because of a faulty window that Toyota had designed for use in IT'S Corolla, a Toyota designed part. Why is that Bc Toyota never should have goten in bed with a vile company like GM GM track record bad Toyota track record Good Whos responsible I would say GM

1115, using those numbers it is still 5.1%. I'm not arguing your point that the conquer rate sucks but your original 1.4% foreign conquer number was understated. You can argue the 5.1% since the Accord is technically less than 1% but it is damn closer than your number of 1%.

So help me understand how I am not backing up those numbers? In fact, I can get my number by just adding up the numbers you posted from the article. I didn't know you were a contestant on the Mr. Obvious show.

<b>"Accord sales are down 7% where did the sales go NOT TO GM"</b>
Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Chevrolet Malibu sales are all up 25%, 18% and 122%, respectively. Obviously sales are not dropping for any of these vehicles, but Camry sales have dropped 2% and Accord sales have dropped 7%. Why is that?

<b>Honda "jacked" up the price bc the car is a proven winner</b>
Honda's are still selling below MSRP and according to KBB which you've identified as a reliable source, the Chevrolet Malibu is selling closer to MSRP than the Honda Accord. Why is that?

<b>What about the Gm recalls Lets talk about it</b>
Yeah, let's talk about it...
GM is impending the recall of hundreds of thousands of Pontiacs because of a faulty window that Toyota had designed for use in IT'S Corolla, a Toyota designed part. Why is that?

Yep I agree with 1115 that the only cars in the Midsize worth a holler at is Camry and Accord but wait for the next two installments of the Taurus and see if the King of the Roads returns to former Glory :)

Just make land cruisers -- the only Toyota I have any respect for.

1115: "SUVs as a whole are overpriced." Probably -- $50K for a pilot?

"And fewer than 1 percent traded their Accords. " Again, I think the accord is acceptable, and many accord owners won't bother testing anything else.

“Mostly, the Malibu is still wooing buyers who already owned a GM vehicle.”
Same could be said about any manufacturer.
Ktulu: you’re right.

1115, that detnews article also says the new Accord is 7% down in sales. Not rejoicing about that but it is a bit of a blow to the car since it is a new release, and although I think it is ugly (in sedan form - the coupe is ok) I

mayer_ray_nagin: The accord is not ugly. I find the sedan more attractive.

1115; “Accord sales are down 7% where did the sales go NOT TO GM” how do you know that? I'm pretty sure they didn’t go to the Camry.

If you got the Malibu over the Camry you are NO FOOL.

Accord sales are down 7% where did the sales go NOT TO GM
If anything they went to the Camry I personally think the Accrd and Camry are neck and neck with the Malibu being way behind and unproven thus not in the same league
The Accord may be down but I am seeing at least 7 per day and I see 2-3 coupes per day
Honda "jacked" up the price bc the car is a proven winner unlike the Malibu which is a proven loser Also it is a large car now
If you got the malibu over the Camry you are a FOOL and too trusting of GM and believe a coupel of commercials
Interesting how you convieniently ignore the recall post along with everyone else You pick one thing and try to harp on it and that is being shut down
What about the Gm recalls Lets talk about it
Lets talk about how Im right and no one on this baord can test me bc I have the fact on my side

Well sales may be down for the Tundra but the rest of the industry is hurting too. I think that Chevrolet should just go out of business for produced the most throw away Pick-up in the market place. Nothing Rusts like a Chevy Truck!

Meanwhile Ford Motor will still continue to build on its sales leadership as the # 1 Selling Pickup Truck in the World! Oh Yeah :). I personally think that Chevrolet should sell out there FSPU's to Ford so they can put a real motor in it for change!

1115, that detnews article also says the new Accord is 7% down in sales. Not rejoicing about that but it is a bit of a blow to the car since it is a new release, and although I think it is ugly (in sedan form - the coupe is ok) I don't get why anyone would choose a Camry (whose sales are flat or up) to the new Accord EXCEPT that Honda jacked up the Accord pricing over a grand, which they may be feeling now. I'd take the Accord or Malibu over the Camry any day.

That sequoia has an unfortunate front grille. Toyota might have produced small pickup for a long time, but the full size consumer truck market is unique to N.A. market. The Big Three has over 30 years of experience in it, Toyota is just starting out after the flop of the lukewarm T100 and first gen Tundra.

130,000 vehicles recalled 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO -- Certain federal-mogul replacement wheel hub assemblies with the brand names: National, Carquest P/nos. 515020, 515021, 515025, 515053, 515054, 515059, and 515060, shipped between January 23, 2006, and December 20, 2007, sold for light duty and medium duty trucks. The inboard retention nut used to maintain hub bearing assembly can loosen resulting in an ABS light indication, noise, and/or wheel separation. Wheel separation can result in a vehicle crash.

Federal-mogul will notify customers and will replace the hub assembly free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during January 2008.

If the sensor operates intermittently, the ses light may illuminate and the vehicle may run rough. The engine may stall, and if so, may re-start immediately or after a cool down period.

If the sensor becomes completely inoperative, the engine will quit running and will not re-start. Either of these failures can increase the risk of a crash.

Automotive News
December 24, 2007 - 12:01 am ET

DETROIT — General Motors plans to chop pickup production in January, but it may be too late to avoid a fire sale.

As of Dec. 1, inventories of the Chevrolet Silverado (153 days supply) and GMC Sierra (150 days) were bloated despite $5,000 rebates on 2007 models.

The market for full-sized pickups has been soft since the housing industry went bust. But inventories of rival brands Ford, Dodge, Toyota and Nissan are closer to the industry norm of 60 days.

As of Dec. 1, Chevrolet had 233,800 unsold Silverados, which is not a huge increase over its inventory of 219,600 units a month earlier. So what went wrong? When demand went soft, GM hesitated to trim production of the Silverado. The restyled 2008 model, which arrived in showrooms in November 2006, was still in its first year.

Too many pickups

Here are pickup inventories as of Dec. 1. A 60-day supply is considered ideal.

Chevy Silverado 233,800 - 153 days
GMC Sierra 82,900 - 150 days
Dodge Ram 117,200 - 120 days
Ford F series 186,100 - 100 days
Nissan Titan 21,100 - 105 days
* The Toyota Tundra is not listed because Toyota does not report inventory levels for individual vehicles.

Too slow to cut

GM "clearly overproduced," says auto analyst John Casesa, a principal of the Casesa Shapiro Group in New York. "The weak market caught them by surprise. If the market was stable, their days supply should only be up by 10 percent, but the market weakened materially in November."

Chevrolet probably will have to boost incentives and advertising to unload those vehicles. "They have a lot of cash on the trucks, and now they have to spend a lot of money to advertise it to get the customer to bite," Casesa says. "They just have too many trucks to clear in the first quarter if they don't do it in December."

GM is coaxing dealers to order more trucks, and one dealer says he is feeling the heat.

Ken Fichtner, owner of Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Mont., says he took an additional 10 Silverados last month, at GM's request.. This month GM asked him to take an additional 20 trucks, and he said no.

"I am sitting on a 13-month supply right now," Fichtner says. "They wanted me to go to an 18-month supply but we only sell 10 a month, and I'm in the heart of truck country!"

Fichtner blames slow sales on stingy rebates; Casesa notes that Chevy did not offer aggressive incentives on the Silverado until the third quarter. Currently, GM offers $1,000 on the 2008 Silverado and up to $5,000 on the 2007 version.

The pickup pack

Here are the top-selling full-sized pickups through November, with the percentage change from 2006.

Ford F series 635,520 –12.4%
Chevrolet Silverado 564,697 –3.3%
Dodge Ram 326,177 –1.5%
GMC Sierra 188,461 –2.5%
Toyota Tundra 177,336 58.30%

Slash production

GM had little to say last week about its plans to reduce inventories. "Production exceeded demand for a period of time," said company spokes-man Terry Rhadigan.

But GM's January production schedule speaks volumes. GM plans a two-week shutdown of its truck plants in Oshawa, Ontario; Pontiac, Mich.; and Fort Wayne, Ind. And when those plants resume production, GM will eliminate a shift at Pontiac and Oshawa.

"Ford actually went ahead and closed some plants in December, whereas GM is waiting until January," says Haig Stoddard, an auto production analyst for Global Insight in suburban Detroit. "It's safe to say that GM overproduced."
The message you have entered is too short.

Too slow to cut

GM “clearly overproduced,” says auto analyst John Casesa, a principal of the Casesa Shapiro Group in New York. “The weak market caught them by surprise. If the market was stable, their days supply should only be up by 10 percent, but the market weakened materially in November.”

Chevrolet probably will have to boost incentives and advertising to unload those vehicles. “They have a lot of cash on the trucks, and now they have to spend a lot of money to advertise it to get the customer to bite,” Casesa says. “They just have too many trucks to clear in the first quarter if they don’t do it in December.”

GM is coaxing dealers to order more trucks, and one dealer says he is feeling the heat.

Ken Fichtner, owner of Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Mont., says he took an additional 10 Silverados last month, at GM’s request.. This month GM asked him to take an additional 20 trucks, and he said no.

“I am sitting on a 13-month supply right now,” Fichtner says. “They wanted me to go to an 18-month supply but we only sell 10 a month, and I’m in the heart of truck country!”

Fichtner blames slow sales on stingy rebates; Casesa notes that Chevy did not offer aggressive incentives on the Silverado until the third quarter. Currently, GM offers $1,000 on the 2008 Silverado and up to $5,000 on the 2007 version.

The pickup pack

Here are the top-selling full-sized pickups through November, with the percentage change from 2006.

Ford F series 635,520 –12.4%
Chevrolet Silverado 564,697 –3.3%
Dodge Ram 326,177 –1.5%
GMC Sierra 188,461 –2.5%
Toyota Tundra 177,336 58.30%

Slash production

GM had little to say last week about its plans to reduce inventories. “Production exceeded demand for a period of time,” said company spokes-man Terry Rhadigan.

But GM’s January production schedule speaks volumes. GM plans a two-week shutdown of its truck plants in Oshawa, Ontario; Pontiac, Mich.; and Fort Wayne, Ind. And when those plants resume production, GM will eliminate a shift at Pontiac and Oshawa.

“Ford actually went ahead and closed some plants in December, whereas GM is waiting until January,” says Haig Stoddard, an auto production analyst for Global Insight in suburban Detroit. “It’s safe to say that GM overproduced.”
The message you have entered is too short.

Are you retarded cookie ? Did you read the article ??? or are you trying to combines the sales to make it look like more than it is lol (4.1%)
You are worse than Jjcay and Commo

The car still isn't convincing droves of customers to trade in their Camrys and Accords. Only *1.4* percent of Malibu buyers traded in a Camry, which has long dominated the massive midsize segment, according to J.D. Powers. Another *1.4* percent traded in a Honda Civic and *1.3* percent traded in a Nissan Altima. And fewer than 1 percent traded their Accords.

Mostly, the Malibu is still wooing buyers who already owned a GM vehicle.!!!!!!!! About 40 percent of those who bought the '08 Malibu previously owned a Chevy, compared with 48 percent of owners of the old models.
