Continuing its North American production shift, Toyota announced on Monday that it has approved a $467.2 million update for its Princeton, Indian production facility. The upgrade will see Toyota moving Highlander and Sequoia production to one line at the Indiana plant.
The upgrade coincides with Toyota’s decision to move North American production of the Highlander SUV to the Indiana plant. The Highlander was slated to be built at a new Toyota plant in Tupelo, Mississippi, but the Japanese automaker has since abandoned that plan.

Toyota ’s Tupelo plant sits complete but has yet to have any tooling or machinery installed.

The Princeton, Indian plant was formerly responsible for some Tundra full-size truck production, but all Tundra production has been moved to the automaker’s San Antonio, Texas factory, clearing room for the Highlander SUV.

According to Automotive News, the Princeton upgrade should be completed by September.
