The RSX/Integra actually lives on in Canada, sold as the Acura CSX and CSX Type-S. It is a straight rebadge of the Civic and Civic Si, respectively.

The Supra please. Screw the Celica. The rest of America might be buying Toyotas, but I won't buy one of those ugly ass cars. Toyota only makes cars for old people. Same for Lexus.

They need to bring back the Supra and get their mojo back.

No thanks. I thought my celica was the worst car ever ... until I owned a honda.

global: supra had performance numbers back in its day, but i'd rather have any of its contemporaries.

planetdrive: Neither a sports car nor reliable. Mine died at 84K

SS4Life: The Supra wasn't 30K then, and it won't make it there now.

sharpie, the Integra never went away, it's just sold as Civic-only now
'Dore: If Toyota makes a Celica, it should be a rebadged altima coupe, maybe with RWD.

I couldn't agree with you more CA36GTP, I don't know what the hell Toyota was thinking when they brought the Scion brand out. I know they were trying to bring a vehicle line up that would market towards younger buyers but I don't think they needed to come out with a whole new brand and kill off the Celica. Then come out with a brand that only has like three vehicles two of them being boxes. If the Celica comes back out even in 09 amongst stiff competition from Scarface03's comment like the Mitsu Eclipse, Mazdaspeed 3, and Tiburon. As long as they offer something that looks good, and isn't underpowered and isn't anything less than what Toyota was known for performance wise, they'll have something that'll compete.

The TRD Celica looks miles better than the newer tC. As far as I'm concerned, Toyota took a huge step backwards in shoving the Scion brand down our throats.

As most people noted, the tC effectively replaced the Celica. But, Celica's last year was also a boon year for Mitsu's Eclipse, although those sales had been waning. If Celica wants back in, they had better kick it up a notch. Available Eclipses and Mazadaspeed3 at 260 hp+, and the better-with-age Tiburon are stiff competition. In fact, isn't 2009 right around the time that Hyundai will be selling the next gen. Tiburon?....

This is much better news than a depressing lawsuit, killing of a truck and another potential killing of boxer engine and AWD. About time for the revival of sport coupe! Maybe Honda will revive its RSX / Integra line and Mazda will produce something along the line of the MX6. Look no further than the Eclipse, which along with the EVO are the few cars that keep Mitsu around (The new lancer is promising though).

So good bye boxy SUV and hello sleek sport coupe!

With the recent trends towards more sport oriented vehicles, it makes sense to bring back those old favs, though I don't think they have big plans for having them more than 1 generation.

Good one TOZO. lol Well if Toyota wants to get back in the performance segment they are going to need something other than the Scion tC. I mentioned they should just bring back the Supra, Celica, and MR2. But I think if they continue to keep the Celica FWD that'll compete in the FWD segment. Just like everyone mentioned earlier bring back the GT4 and even offer AWD on it. Bring back the MR2 to compete with the Miata, Solstice, and Sky, and maybe soon to be Demon. Lastly to compete and dominate the 20-30k RWD segment they need to bring back the Supra. With these performing trios Toyota would be sure to be on top of the performance segment. If the Supra or Celica or MR2 comes back then i'll for sure be changing my LLN name to one of these 4LIFE.... haha

Yeah Toyota needs to bring back the MR2 Spyder definitely! I loved the last gen MR2 and still would like to get my hands on one. The last gen MR2 was a bit plain looking, inside and outside but it was built for tuners, and man stick an after market turbo plus a couple mods on that thing and you instantly have 300hp+. I saw one of these turbo'd at Autorama last year and it had 330hp and ran the 1/4 in like 10.8 seconds. Here's what Toyota needs to do. Kill Scion entirely I can't stand anything badged under that brand. Bring back the Celica, Supra and hell I know it'll never happen but bring back the RWD Carolla! This would spell even more success for Toyota.

Hey...who thought of that??

No fucking shit you need to bring in a sports car....unless you want to be an boring eco-box company.

Oh, and one more thing. Don't try to make it a hybrid and sell it as green....it should be a sportscar. That means big engine or low weight, rear wheel drive, good handling, and so on

Back in the day Toyota used to get enthusiasts:
Supra
Celica
MR2
Corolla GTS

All that's left is the Corolla which has become cure for insomnia. Lexus has some good stuff if you want to blow $35K+; the Scion tC is somewhat sporting while the xD and xB have joined the fat-boy program. Meanwhile Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Hyundai and soon Kia all fight and succeed in this market.

Back in the day Toyota used to get enthusiasts:
Supra
Celica
MR2
Corolla GTS

All that’s left is the Corolla which has become cure for insomnia. Lexus has some good stuff if you want to blow $35K+; the Scion tC is somewhat sporting while the xD and xB have joined the fat-boy program.
Yes!! Bring it back, make a modern version of the TRD Celica, not the boring-ass older generations.

That's the only Toyota I've ever liked.

would have killed for an All-Trac in 1989
Last generation was way to Voltron for me, and never got a high power AWD version here in U.S. So I did not care for it, I drove one and it was fun to drive but very cramped inside. Felt like a death trap next to Semis at 80 MPH on so cal freeways, I dont know how people drive minis in LA traffic.

Yeah Toyota was stupid for killing off the Celica and making room for the Scion TC. Instead of spending however millions of dollars investing in the Tc they should have spent that in re-engineering the Celica. I also tried looking into buying a used GTS before I leased my SS S/C but insurance was outrageous for even a used Celica so no go there. But my dad still has his 84 Celica, and he says it was the best car he ever had. I would love to see Toyota bring back the Celica and offer it both in FWD and AWD like they did back in the early 90's. But by 09 it better have at least a 250hp turbo 1.8 VVT to compete with everything else in this segment. If it looked good and was priced competitively I'd would def be a potential buyer. Also please bring back the Supra!

Rumors also exist that a new Corolla coupe could be due around '10 or '12.
This may be it, although Toyota was taken a big hit for not introducing a new Corolla coupe to go along with the new '09 sedan.
Honda's own Civic Coupe is selling extremely well.

Perhaps the return of the GT-S Corolla Coupe, this MAY be the next "Celica."

Check back as I get more information.
