However, I chose the Quest mostly for its size, but also for its seats. They are bigger than just about anything, and I was going to be transporting four adults and three children often. That just wasn’t as comfortable in the Sienna (the back seats are better for kids). The only other minivan at the time that was as big was the Dodge Grand Caravan, which I also considered. But the Dodge at that time was on a very dated platform, had seats that were a pain in the rear to fold, had an engine that just wasn’t as powerful as other offerings, and really didn’t have as much cargo room as the Quest did. Heck, I can lay several full sheets of plywood flat down when I fold my seats down. That was important to me, too. No other minivan at that time could do that. I believe the latest Grand Caravan can, but remember, this was 2003.

One other thing: A coworker bought a Sienna shortly after I bought my Quest. He bragged to me about how he got a great deal, and how they knocked off almost $6,000 for him because he worked with me and I used to make the commercials for the dealer (yes, he played that card). He told me he only paid $42,000 for the Sienna, and that it was fully loaded, and other people were paying so much more. However, when he asked how much I paid for the Quest, and I told him it was less than $25,000, he stood in shock. The fully loaded Sienna shouldn’t have gone for more than $35,000 at that time, but the dealer markups were ridiculous. Price was another major determining factor for me, and I’m very glad I didn’t follow the sheeple. My Quest is already paid off.
